For the first time in history, Deadpool has become the main character of an action game, and he really wants to outshine his colleagues. Instead of a harsh Gotham massacre in the style of the Dark Knight - katanas, hefty guns, explosives and bright, mind-blowing witticisms. Instead of the quarrelsome rage of Wolverine - indescribable terry humor. Instead of dull assistants, there are invited guests from popular comics, chosen by their clothes ... or rather, by their absence. Deadpool knows what you miss in superhero games. And he delivers.

THE GRAFICAL PART

In this subsection of our review, the main graphical aspects of this game are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphics settings and the quality of the development of the main visual aspects.

Supported OS and graphics API

Deadpool is supported by major Windows operating systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8. Other operating systems are currently not supported by developers.

The priority and primary graphics API for Deadpool's multiplayer game is DirectX 9. The game runs through the Steam digital service.

Game engine 

The video game Deadpool is based on the Unreal Engine 3. UE3 was developed with personal computers using modern rendering systems (DirectX 9/10 and OpenGL 2/3) and current generation consoles (PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360) in mind. Due to the widespread use of multiprocessor systems, the engine uses two parallel main threads - the main thread (responsible mainly for the game process) and the rendering thread.

 

In addition to the two main threads, secondary threads can be called, which perform one-time tasks. Support for multi-threaded dynamic data loading (streaming) has appeared, for example, loading a “location” directly when moving around it in order to save resources.

The updated graphics engine supports most modern technologies, including HDR, per-pixel lighting, dynamic shadows, shader model 4, geometry shaders. The graphics pipeline itself was transferred under the control of shaders. The physical subsystem Karma was abandoned in favor of another called PhysX from NVIDIA. Later, NVIDIA released a set of additional libraries for the game, allowing you to use all the features of the physical system (such as the effect of "fluid" or tissue). The FaceFX mechanism is responsible for the animation of the faces of the characters.

Updated EAX version to 5th. Added support for SpeedTree for generating trees. The emphasis was on additive geometry, but support for subtractive geometry was not abandoned. The disadvantage of subtractive geometry in the first place is a much longer lighting calculation. A new UnrealEd editor has been introduced, rewritten using wxWidgets.

Advanced game settings

Deadpool has a very modest amount of graphic settings, that is, it has almost none. All settings come down to changing the overall level of graphics quality and various resolutions.

As we can see, the difference between the various quality settings in Deadpool is almost minimal and even with the minimum graphics settings we have a good picture.

General visual design and game physics

Deadpool is based on Unreal Engine 3, uses only DirectX 9 and has a very meager arsenal of graphic settings. In addition, the game has rather mediocre graphics, judging from the bulk of games today, and almost no destruction physics.

It is worth noting the control, which is more adapted to the gamepad, so it will not be very comfortable to play with PC manipulators, but still, do not forget that Deadpool is a game for fans of the series, where graphics and plot fade far into the background.. .

Все видеокарты тестировались на максимальном качестве графики программой MSI Afterburner. Целью теста является определить, как ведут себя видеокарты от различных производителей при одинаковых условиях. За показатель производительности брался средний и минимальный FPS. Ниже приведено видео тестового отрезка: 

Наши видеокарты тестировались при разрешениях 1920х1080 и 2560х1600 при максимальных настройках качества графики, допустимых Deadpool. Игра имеет внутреннее ограничение кадров, равное 58 FPS.

Тестирование потребляемой игрой видеопамяти проводилось программой MSI Afterburner. За показатель брались результаты на топовых видеокартах от AMD и NVIDIA при разрешениях 1920х1080 и 2560х1600 с различными настройками сглаживания.

Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows Task Manager. The test was conducted on the base configuration Core i 7 3970X@4.9 GHz with 16GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory.

As we can see, with various basic quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in Deadpool is at the level of 400 megabytes. Thus, for a comfortable game, you must have at least 2  GB of RAM installed in your PC.
