Sonic Generations is a video game developed by the Sonic Team for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Nintendo 3DS handheld game system and PC to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the character Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic Generations is a mix of the Sonic the Hedgehog games that have been released for different generations of consoles.

The game was released on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms in the United States on November 1, 2011, in Australia on November 3, and in Europe on November 4. In Japan, the game is scheduled to release on these platforms on December 1st. On November 4, Sonic Generations appeared on digital distribution services for PC. The Nintendo 3DS version of the game will release on November 22 in the US, November 25 in Europe and December 1 in Japan. A boxed version of the PC version in Europe will also be released in November.

Sonic Generations is a new game in a series of games dedicated to the playable character Sonic, whose history goes back almost 20 years. It is doubly gratifying that the developers have not forgotten such a gaming platform as a PC, so this time personal players were not deprived ... Although in this case there are some flaws, which in our case seems to be not very convenient control, which is more adapted to the controller from Xbox 360.


Sonic Generations combines time-tested style and new technology - you can play in both 2D and 3D, while the novelty supports modern HD 3D graphics. The game combines the classic and new images of Sonic (each of them endowed with unique tricks and tricks), as well as many other characters from the popular universe.


The scenario of Sonic Generations tells about the emergence of strange holes in time that threaten the existence of the universe. These same holes allow Sonic to look into the past, meet his predecessor from 1991 and, together with him, defeat a mysterious enemy who planned to destroy the world. As you progress, Sonic frees his friends and returns color to the world around him.

The product is built on the Hedgehog Engine, which is a game engine for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and personal computer developed by Sega's Sonic Team. The engine combines the functionality of a graphics and physics engine. Hedgehog Engine is a 3D to 2D smooth transition engine with no downloads and is capable of playing high quality gameplay videos.


Engine creator Yoshihisa Hashimoto spent months analyzing video games, movies, and even people and places in real life. He came to the conclusion that modern games lack the element known in the field of computer animation as global illumination. The engine allows you to realistically simulate light. A team led by Hashimota developed the light field technology. With this technology, the characters can perform various tasks and at the same time, the light and shadows reflected from them look realistic (unlike past games in the Sonic the Hedgehog series, where this feature was absent).


Is Sonic Generations the best skin for a Sonic game? - Yes this is true. Sonic Generations is superbly visualized, which is only a delight. The game takes us through beautiful, multi-parallax 2D-style platforming sections or lightning-fast 3D levels that turn the world upside down, through which you race as a modern Sonic.


The main difference of the new game is how fast everything moves. At the beginning, I was really a little overwhelmed by the speed, and I was very pleased. But after a while, I got used to the ferocity of it all and appreciated what a great job SEGA did, and not just how beautiful the characters and environments look. The game's camera is stable and how things don't fall apart when Sonic moves faster than he ever did.

Less productive video cards up to the level of GeForce GTS 450 and Radeon HD 4870 are tested based on Core 2 Quad Q9550 and Phenom II X4 940 BE processors, depending on the resource intensity of the game, and more productive ones based on more powerful solutions. Overclocked versions of video cards presented by sponsors were equated to conventional counterparts by reducing their clock speeds.



Our video cards were tested at 2560x1600 with maximum graphics quality settings. There is no point in testing this game at a lower resolution. NVIDIA 3D Vision technology is currently not supported by the game, as well as AMD Eyefinity, which, although activated, greatly stretches the game image. The efficiency of SLI is zero, but Cross Fire on the HD 6990 works this time, although such capacities are more than enough for a comfortable game. The game has an internal frame limit of 60 FPS.

Testing at maximum quality settings 2560x1600


At maximum graphics quality settings at a resolution of 2560x1600, a Radeon HD 4890 or GeForce GTS 250 will show a sufficient level of performance in the game. With AMD 4XXX series, we had a performance issue, which is most likely related to driver optimization for this game. The most comfortable frame rate for smooth gaming will be provided by cards like the Radeon HD 6870 or GeForce GTX 460.

  Processor dependency testing


We tested processor dependence on 10 models of basic configurations, which are the most relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of the video card for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1024x768 with maximum visual quality settings.

As we can see, Sonic Generations feels great on all of our tested CPU models. According to the developers, quad-core models are recommended, which we consider somewhat redundant for this game.

At one time, the first part of Stronghold surprised many with a unique combination of an economic simulator and real-time strategy, and thus captured a wide audience.  Those pleasant impressions have remained in the memory of the fans to this day, and they were looking forward to the continuation of the beloved franchise.

История подаётся в виде черно-белых комиксов, которые рассказывают историю об обездоленных монархах, чье царство было раскрадено злым узурпатором.Хоть до современных норм такое повествование явно недотягивает, но свою функцию исполняет исправно и создаёт хоть какую никакую, но атмосферу.

С самого начала возникают проблемы с управлением.Ориентироваться по карте в бою трудно даже при самых благоприятных обстоятельствах (часто курсор отказывается изменить иконку на атаку, независимо от того, насколько точно наведен курсор на врага). Часто пытаясь вывести раненых солдат из боя они, отойдя несколько шагов, разворачиваются обратно в гущу боя. Такие недостатки способны перечеркнуть всё удовольствие от почти любой стычки.

Менеджмент и стратегия сохраняют многие элементы, которые успешно использовались ранее, и тем самым создают в Stronghold 3 чувство схожее с дежа-вю.Игра имеет тенденцию постоянно менять гражданские потребности и настроения, что отвлекает от чистого удовольствия строительства удивительного замка.Также нужно отметить чересчур малое игровое пространство, в котором нужно создать условия для счастливой жизни населения и как то вместить многоуровневый оборонительный комплекс.

Возрождать или продолжать любую франшизу всегда сложно. В этот разразработчики пошли на слишком много рискованных изменений, и тем самым утратили основные черты привлекательности серии, а может и наоборот - изменили слишком мало, чтобы создать вStronghold 3 новые впечатления от игры, это больше похоже на аддон.
