GAME ENGINE AND VISUAL STYLE

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is a Single-player Action-Adventure video game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts (EA). The game was released on November 15, 2019 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One platforms. In this review, we will take a closer look at the history of the development of the game and the game engine used.

Development of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order began in 2016 following the success of Titanfall 2, also developed by Respawn Entertainment. The decision to create a game based on the Star Wars universe was made after a collaboration with publisher Electronic Arts, who held the license to create video games based on this universe.

A team of experienced developers was formed to create the game, including lead designer Stig Asmussen, who previously worked on the God of War series. The story and dialogue were written by Matt Michnovetz and Chris Avelon, veteran screenwriters in the video game industry.

The development process for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order took about three years. During this time, the Respawn Entertainment team worked closely with Lucasfilm to create a canon story that would fit into the existing Star Wars universe. The decision was made to make the game open world with elements of metroidvania, which would allow players to freely explore different planets.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was first announced at E3 2018 and the first trailer for the game was released on April 13, 2019 at the Star Wars Celebration event. The game was released on November 15, 2019 to positive reviews from critics and players alike.

For the development of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the Respawn Entertainment team chose the Unreal Engine 4 game engine from Epic Games. This choice was due to the flexibility, power and wide capabilities of this engine, which allowed the developers to create a high-quality and impressive game.

Unreal Engine 4 allowed developers to create high-quality textures, lighting, and particle effects that made Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order a visually appealing game. In addition, the engine provided tools for creating smooth and realistic animations of characters and enemies, which, together with excellent gameplay, created an exciting gaming experience.

Unreal Engine 4 also provided the ability to create advanced enemy physics and artificial intelligence systems. Through this, players are faced with smart and varied opponents that can adapt to the user's play style and offer realistic resistance.

The Unreal Engine 4 also allowed the developers of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to optimize the game for multiple platforms, including Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. This guaranteed stable game performance on all devices and offered users a comfortable gaming experience.

GRAPHICS SETTINGS

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order has a sufficient range of graphic settings. Both basic and advanced settings are available to us.

DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES

At minimum settings, graphics and textures are reduced in resolution, resulting in less detailed and blurry images. At the same time, the maximum settings provide high resolution textures and improved detail, which creates a more realistic and colorful game world.

Lighting and shadows also differ between minimum and maximum settings. At minimum settings, lighting will be simplified, shadows may be less defined and less realistic. At maximum settings, lighting and shadows look much better, with shadows having much more detail, and lighting more accurate and realistic.

Effects such as particles, explosions and reflections also change depending on the settings. Minimum settings reduce the number and quality of effects, which can reduce the visual quality of the game, but improve performance. Maximum settings provide more advanced effects, enhancing the gaming atmosphere and overall visual experience.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment

Our video cards were tested at 1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 resolutions with epic graphics quality settings.

In the test of video cards, the default resolution is 1920x1080, other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is carried out on the most productive CPU in this game and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the  MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of  1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.
