In this review, we'll take a look at testing the new Star Wars Jedi: Survivor game on older families of NVIDIA and AMD video cards, using all available basic graphics settings. We will compare the performance of these graphics cards and find out which solution handles the game better.

THE GRAFICAL PART 

In this subsection of our review, the main graphical aspects of this game are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphics settings and the quality of the development of the main visual aspects.

GAME ENGINE AND VISUAL STYLE

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the sequel to the hit game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, was released on April 28, 2023. Development of the game began in 2020, when it became apparent that Fallen Order was receiving positive reviews and commercial success.

The game was announced on May 27, 2022, and the development team, led by Stig Asmussen, stated their desire to create a sequel that retains the atmosphere and mechanics of the original, but with the addition of new elements and improvements.

During the development of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the Respawn Entertainment team actively used the capabilities of the new generation of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S consoles, as well as modern computers. This allowed the developers to implement real-time ray tracing and reduce game load times by ending support for older consoles.

The gameplay was first shown at The Game Awards 2022, where viewers were able to watch a gameplay trailer and find out the game's release date of March 17, 2023. However, at the end of January 2023, the developers announced that the release was postponed to April 28 for additional refinement and polishing.

As part of a marketing campaign, AMD is providing free copies of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor to all AMD Ryzen 7000 processor customers from January to April 2023.

Upon release, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor received positive reviews from critics and gamers alike, with particular praise for the improved graphics, gameplay, and variety of lightsaber combat stances. In an interview with IGN, Stig Asmussen mentioned that a Star Wars trilogy is being planned, with a possible third and final major installment aiming to use the new Unreal Engine 5 game engine.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor uses the Unreal Engine 4 game engine developed by Epic Games. This engine was chosen by the developers of Respawn Entertainment because of its flexibility, power and capabilities. With Unreal Engine 4, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has impressive graphics and smooth gameplay, and is easy to adapt to new generations of consoles and PCs.

The main features of the Unreal Engine 4 game engine in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor:

In the future, the developers are planning a possible third and final part of the Star Wars trilogy powered by Unreal Engine 5. This new engine offers even more advanced features and technologies that will allow the Respawn Entertainment team to create an even more impressive and engaging Star Wars gaming universe.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment :

Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1440 3840x2160 with epic graphics quality settings.

In the test of video cards, the default resolution is 1920x1080, other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is carried out on the most productive CPU in this game and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.

At a resolution  of 2560x1440, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1080 level . A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the level Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1070 FSR 

At a resolution  of 3840x2160, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX Vega 56 FSR level .  A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 5700 FSR level .

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the  MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of  1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.

Testing was carried out at a resolution of 1920x1080. In the processor test, you can remove and add any positions of the processors. You can also select any tested video card from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the results of processor tests  (by default, the most productive solution from NVIDIA is selected). Testing takes place on the most productive NVIDIA and AMD video cards and scales up to lower models.

RAM TEST

The test was conducted on the base configuration Core i 7 5960X with 16GB DDR4 3200 MHz pre-installed memory. All used RAM was taken as an indicator. The RAM test on the entire system was carried out on various video cards without running extraneous applications (browsers, etc.). In the graphics, you can add and remove any resolutions and video cards as desired.
