Official description of the game
The cruel and dark era of the early Middle Ages is coming to an end. The Crusades died down, the feudal lords submitted to the sovereigns, and merchants and travelers turned their gaze to distant seas and unknown lands. There, among the sands and riches of the East, you will be able to found rapidly growing cities, build trade routes and achieve a special position among earthly rulers. Discover new countries and archipelagos, choose development features, use new technologies and influence to increase your popularity in the courts of sultans and kings.
Anno 1404 retained everything that was great about the ANNO series and significantly pushed the boundaries of conventional strategy. Each metropolis is completely unique, and local residents have yet to be convinced of the benefits of mutual cooperation. Both a single-player campaign and free play in the vast universe are available, all aspects of which can be changed at will.
Review: Playability
In our opinion, Anno 1404 is a worthy continuation of this series. Fans and new people will be simply crazy about it: new game locations (different parts of the world), excellent game component, simple and addictive plot. I would like to pay special attention to the game music – it is simply beautiful.
Of course, the game is dominated by an economic component rather than a combat one, but fans of gaming battles will also not be left out of work.
The game has several difficulties to complete, which have different bases. We do not advise beginners to get into trouble and start playing at the most relaxed level. The game has some shortcomings, but after studying them the gameplay will bring you a lot of pleasure.
Review: Game Graphics
The game graphics are simply magnificent. Particular respect is given to the depiction of the seas and surrounding landscapes. When viewing the game map from a bird’s eye view, the splendor spread out below will take your breath away.
The visuals look great – the presence of DirectX®10 in the game only benefited it. The detail of the surrounding world is simply amazing: characters, buildings, ships and even clouds are visible down to the smallest particles.
It is clear from everything that the developers implemented the graphical component with a bang.
Review: Resource-intensive game
For a comfortable game, you will need a dual-core Core 2 Duo 3.0 GHz processor and about 2 gigabytes of RAM.
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the Fraps program at the highest density of the city from a bird’s eye view. We tested video cards from the lower price segment at a resolution of 1024×768, video cards from the middle price range were tested at a resolution of 1280×1024, and video cards from the upper price range were tested at a resolution of 1680×1050.
Testing at maximum Low End quality settings at 1024×768 resolution
State employees find themselves out of work. We cannot recommend them for this resolution.
Testing at maximum quality settings Midle End at 1280×1024 resolution
Here, just a few cards were unable to cope with the task presented to them.
Testing at maximum High End quality settings at 1680×1050 resolution
The game is a little favorable to Nvidia video cards. Therefore, their owners will have a slightly higher fps.
Conclusion: Anno 1404 is a high-quality project both in terms of gaming and graphics.
