showdownis a new real-time strategy game. It contains classic RPG elements and takes place in a world called Aarklash. Clouds have gathered over the world of Aarklash. The prediction is beginning to come true and Ragnarok is expected to come soon. The end of the world will be marked by a bloody battle between the gods and chthonic creatures, and soon the complete extinction of the Sun was foreshadowed.
Several races decided to compete for dominance on a dying Earth. Why do we need power if the Earth will soon disappear? According to an ancient will, a handful of living beings who miraculously escaped during the cataclysm will erect, or rather begin to multiply, their race on the bones of the rest.
THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
Supported OS and graphics API |
This game is supported by the current major Windows operating systems, which include Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Other operating systems are not currently supported by Confrontation and are unlikely to receive support in the future. The game uses the Steam digital game distribution service.
Confrontation only supports DirectX 9 basic mode. Other APIs are not supported by this game.
Game engine |
The game engine is a product of Cyanide Studio’s own development. There is very little information on the Internet not only about the game engine, but also about the game itself. There is also no information about its name. We hope that information on it will become clear soon.
We were unable to find detailed information other than our own visual observations.
Advanced Graphics Settings |
Confrontation has only basic graphics quality settings. The resolution is changed separately and hardware anti-aliasing is enabled. It is not possible to manipulate graphic settings more flexibly.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between minimum, medium, high and maximum graphics quality settings.
Low quality settings |
Medium quality settings |
High quality settings |
Very high settings |
As we can see, the difference between high and medium settings is practically invisible. The most detrimental to picture quality are low graphics settings.
General visual design and game physics |
Visually, Confrontation is nothing out of the ordinary. Everything looks rather mediocre and does not evoke dividing emotions. The game was made with a larger user market in mind, so the technological part was relegated to the background.
But even despite the mediocre graphics, the game turned out to be quite bright and rich, for which we must give credit to the game designers. The design itself and the levels and locations are quite up to par. Physics in the game, as such, is almost completely absent.
Well, then we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU test |
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The minimum and average FPS were taken as performance indicators.
Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 2560×1600 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by the game. SLI and Cross Fire do not provide an increase in performance, but show the level of single video cards.
Testing at high quality settings 1680×1050
At a resolution of 1680×1050 at high settings, all our video cards showed the minimum level of performance, and for comfortable gaming, cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 level will be sufficient.
Testing at high quality settings 1920×1080
At a resolution of 1920×1080 at high settings, the minimum level of performance was again shown by cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 level.
Testing at high quality settings 2560×1600
At 2560×1600 resolution on high settings the minimum level of acceptable performance was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 5770 or GeForce GTX 550 Ti level. The optimal solution for these settings will be video cards of the level Radeon HD 5830 or GeForce GTX 460.
As we can see from the graphs, Confrontation currently favors Radeon cards. Particularly bright in this review were our test debutants in the form of 7XXX series cards, which showed simply stunning performance.
VRAM test |
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 2560×1600.
Testing at high memory GPU quality settings
The optimal amount of video memory usage at maximum settings for Confrontation is about 768 MB for NVIDIA and AMD. At the moment, this is one of the minimum levels of preinstalled memory in modern video cards.
CPU test |
We tested processor dependence on 15 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1024×768.
The Confrontation CPU test was conducted in a typical open space battle.
Testing at high quality settings 1024×768
The game does not make exorbitant demands on modern CPU models. For comfortable playability, a modern dual-core model will be quite sufficient.
RAM test |
Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows task manager. The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 [email protected] GHz with 8GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory.
Testing at various quality settings
At maximum quality settings, the game uses about 1024 megabytes of RAM. In high and medium quality settings, this indicator remains virtually unchanged. At low settings, RAM consumption is about 700 megabytes.
