Review: Playability
Almost 6 years have passed since the release of the last part of the Dungeon Siege II series, which was not received as warmly as the very first part. It seemed that fans of the series would no longer see the long-awaited sequel. And then, unexpectedly, Square Enix announced the long-awaited sequel from its master’s side, not even forgetting to take care of the fans and releasing a demo version.
The plot of the game is standard – we confront a common evil, trying to defeat it in an unequal battle, accumulating strength and improving our skills as the game progresses. In general terms, Dungeon Siege III can be described as a Diablo-like RPG with several key highlights. Some features in the demo version are blocked and can only be used after purchasing the full version of the game.
We invite you to evaluate part of the game walkthrough of Dungeon Siege III – Demo in FuLL HD resolution, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product:
Dungeon Siege III is a simple, not annoying and a bit banal game. There are not so many innovations and this project will be of interest more to fans of the series than to newbies.
Review: Graphics
The graphics in the game are based on Onyx’s own engine, unfortunately there is no information about it. This engine was aimed at multi-platform, which is why the game does not have the most advanced graphics today. That’s why the game has minimal graphic settings.
The picture is beautiful, neat nothing more. The models of the surrounding landscape look a little untidy, begging to be added with extra textures or polygons. The levels in the game are straightforward without any choice of freedom of movement.
The models of the main characters look more or less neat, but they leave much to be desired. The physics in Dungeon Siege III are mediocre, but not objectionable. Next, we move directly to testing the performance of modern hardware in the game.
Review: Resource-intensive game
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The minimum and average frame size is taken as the performance indicator. Below is the configuration of our test systems.

Less productive video cards up to the level of GeForce GTS 450 and Radeon HD 4870 are tested on the basis of Core 2 Quad Q9550 and Phenom II X4 940 BE processors, depending on the resource intensity of the game, and more productive ones are based on more powerful solutions. Overclocked versions of video cards presented by sponsors were equal to conventional analogues by reducing their clock speeds.
Our video cards were tested at a resolution of 1920×1080 at maximum quality settings. NVIDIA 3D Vision technology was tested at maximum quality settings at a resolution of 1920 x1080 – the 3D quality is not bad, although the driver is not rated. AMD Eyefinity is not currently supported for Dungeon Siege III.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
All of our tested video cards handled the game at maximum settings without any problems. The minimum acceptable comfortable solutions are Radeon HD 3870 and GeForce 9800 GT. Based on the purchase of video cards for games today, the Radeon HD 5750 and GeForce GTS 450 look the most optimal. Dual-chip models from both manufacturers do not work correctly and require driver modifications.
Testing using NVIDIA 3D Vision technology
Even despite the lack of a signature in the driver, the 3D quality in the game is currently at a quite acceptable level, allowing players with GeForce cards to thoroughly enjoy stereoscopic effects. The FPS limit in 3D mode is 60 FPS.
Testing at maximum quality settings using NVIDIA 3D Vision technology 1920×1080
With the use of 3D Vision technology, card performance is reduced by 55-65% of the standard mode, depending on the video cards model. The minimum that is necessary for comfortable gaming in 3D, at a resolution of 1920×1080, is a video card of the GeForce GTS 250 level. The most optimal solution should be considered a video card of the GeForce GTX 260 class or higher.
CPU dependency testing
We tested processor dependence on 10 models of basic configurations, which are the most relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, but this time at a resolution of 1920×1080 with maximum graphics quality settings.
Testing processor dependence at minimum quality settings 1920×1080
In terms of processor dependence, Dungeon Siege III actively uses the power of four core processors. So dual-core models may not be enough in some cases…
Dungeon Siege III is a good game and will make a decent impression on fans of games from this series. |
|
The graphics in the game are cute, colorful, but not technologically advanced. The main reason may be the console orientation of this series. | |
Optimization in terms of video cards is excellent. To play comfortably at maximum settings, you will not need the latest graphics solutions. |
