Release date 2012
Genre MMORTS
World economic crisis. Oil and food prices are rising rapidly. Some wars are fought for the right to feed their inhabitants. The authorities are unable to control the situation. The anarchy that followed the economic collapse of the 21st century brought to power a new superpower, the Order of the Nation, whose goal was to restore the old order through force. Countries were abolished due to “uselessness”.
Armed to the teeth with new technologies, the new government promised that it would never tolerate a repetition of global disasters and catastrophes. But in reality everything turned out to be completely wrong. Benevolence quickly turned into tyranny, individual freedom and culture of identity were suppressed by the tanks of the Order of the Nation.
Revolutionaries from all over the globe have united to fight back this totalitarian enemy in humanity’s last stand.
THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
Supported OS and graphics API |
End of Nations is supported by the major Windows operating systems, which include XP, Vista and Windows 7. Other operating systems are not currently supported by the developers and are unlikely to receive support.
The priority and main graphics API is DirectX 9.
Game engine |
The game engine is a product of Petroglyph Games’ own development. This engine was developed exclusively on PC, since there are no plans for End of Nations to be released on consoles. Unfortunately, we could not find either the name of the engine or its characteristics.
Unfortunately, we could not find more detailed information about the game engine, except for visual observations.
Advanced Game Settings |
End of Nations has many graphic settings, which is quite typical for a PC project. We can, at our discretion, set any graphic settings in any order and any configuration, or use universal settings.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between minimum, medium and high graphics quality settings.

End of Nations graphics look quite good at various settings, and the only exception is low settings, which are most likely aimed at built-in graphics solutions.
General visual design and game physics |
The RTS genre has almost died out recently, so at the moment it is very difficult to find opponents to compare the graphical component with End of Nations. But one thing can be said – the developers have done their best and a very exciting and cute project awaits us.
The game is beautifully stylized and has rich maps that are not similar to each other, as a result of which the passage becomes very interesting. The detailing is quite decent, the texture is excellent, and the special effects are very bright and rich. The physics in the game are mediocre and are more aimed at visualizing the destruction of units.
Well, then we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU test |
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average FPS was taken as a performance indicator. Below is a video of a test segment for video cards:
Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 2560×1600 with ultra-high graphics quality settings End of Nations. SLI and CrossFireX work without problems, showing excellent scalability in performance. In standard separate screen displays, the performance of multi-chip solutions is limited by the CPU.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1680×1050
At a resolution of 1680×1050 at maximum settings, an acceptable minimum FPS was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce level GTS 450.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
At a resolution of 1920×1080 at maximum settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 level showed an acceptable FPS. The optimal video cards will be Radeon HD 7750 or GeForce GTS 450 and higher.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1200
At a resolution of 1920×1200 at maximum settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 7750 or GeForce GTX 460 level again showed an acceptable FPS. The optimal video cards will be Radeon HD 5850 or GeForce GTX 470 and higher.
VRAM test |
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 1920×1200.
Testing at maximum memory GPU quality settings
The optimal amount of video memory for End of Nations is 500-800 MB. Modern solutions have at least 1 gigabyte of video memory on board.
CPU test |
We tested processor dependence on 12 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1024×768 with maximum graphics quality settings. Below is a video of the test segment for the CPU; each time the battles had different developments, so you should not be biased towards the CPU test:
Testing at minimum quality settings 1024×768
End of Nations makes full use of only 2 processor cores – 4-core models are not fully exploited in the game. Therefore, performance is largely influenced by clock speed and architectural features.
RAM test |
Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows task manager. The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 [email protected] GHz with 8GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed video memory.
Testing at various quality settings
As we can see, with different quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in End of Nations Beta is at the same level of 1200 megabytes. Thus, for a comfortable game you need to have minimum 2,5 or 3 GB of RAM installed in your PC.
