CD Projekt RED Bolsters Development Team for Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel with Stellar Lineup

CD Projekt RED, the Polish studio renowned for its role-playing games, has announced a significant strengthening of its team for the development of the sequel to the iconic Cyberpunk 2077, code-named Project Orion. The studio has attracted well-known industry professionals to ensure the high-level development of the new game.

Among the notable newcomers to the team is Dan Hernberg, who has previously held key positions in the development of New World, Apex Legends, and Diablo III, now appointed as the Executive Producer for Project Orion. Ryan Barnard, with merits that include leading development at Massive Entertainment and serving as gameplay director at IO Interactive, will take on the role of Design Director. Alan Villani, who has experience with Warner Bros. Games and has contributed to the Mortal Kombat series, will become the Director of Engineering.

Additionally, writers Anna Megill and Alexander Freed, who have previously worked on projects such as the Fable reboot, Control, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and others, have joined the project.

Project Orion is in the early stages of development, prompting CD Projekt RED to announce openings for numerous positions in its Boston and Vancouver teams. The new vacancies hint at the introduction of "highly interactive" scenes, captivating open-world events, and innovative quests, which are expected to create a "unique blend of film and game."

The sequel is anticipated to extend beyond Night City, offering players "breathtaking worlds" and engaging narratives. The game promises to include user-friendly mechanics, a familiar progression system, and crafting, promising a "seamless, captivating, and unique experience."
