Patch 2 for God of War Ragnarök: Fixes and updates

4012423 ragnarokartbook1

Developers God of War Ragnarök released a second patch aimed at improving the game’s performance, especially for users with NVIDIA graphics cards. The main focus of the update is on optimizing DLSS technology and fixing issues with NVIDIA Reflex. These changes should improve the overall experience and improve stability for PC players. Let’s take a closer look at the main changes in the new patch.

One of the key issues that was fixed in this update was a bug related to NVIDIA DLSS Frame Generation. Many players were experiencing this technology not initializing properly, which resulted in decreased performance and poor graphics. The patch fixed this bug, so players can enjoy smoother gameplay with increased frame rates.

The developers also addressed an issue with the NVIDIA Reflex feature, which users reported was showing as disabled in the UI even when DLSS Frame Generation was enabled. This feature helps reduce input lag, which is critical for action games like God of War Ragnarök. Now, after installing the patch, NVIDIA Reflex works correctly and is displayed in the interface, which improves the control response in the game.

Additionally, the patch fixed several timing markers related to NVIDIA Reflex. This change should make the game even more responsive and reduce any potential lag that users may have experienced when enabling the feature.

Users also reported issues with audio calibration, where the interface did not display the Surround Sound options. Some bugs caused stereo sound mixing to not work correctly, causing some sound effects to sound too quiet or loud. The patch fixed this issue, and now the audio calibration displays the correct parameters and the mixing works as expected.

Another major fix is to the UI graphics. Some players were experiencing controller icons appearing low-resolution and blurry, especially on certain settings. This issue has now been fixed, and the UI visuals are crisp and correct.

One of the most critical bugs fixed in the patch concerned the game’s controls. Some users found that the control buttons would stop working during quicktime events if the Interact and Evade buttons were remapped, or if Steam Input was enabled. This bug could disrupt gameplay, especially during fast-paced scenes. The controls now work correctly with all settings.

The developers paid special attention to the Steam Deck version of the game. Some players reported that one of the buttons on the console was not assigned, which blocked the execution of the training moment in the game. The patch fixed this defect, which improved the game’s compatibility with the popular portable platform.

One of the interesting moments in the patch was the removal of the blockade for video cards with a memory capacity of less than 6 GB. Previously, players using such video cards could not launch the game. Now this blockade has been removed, which allows owners of less powerful GPUs to try to launch the game. However, the developers warn that 6 GB of video memory all still remain the minimum system requirements for comfortable play. Video cards with 4 GB of memory are not officially supported, and players may encounter performance issues or even game crashes. The developers emphasize that using such cards is at your own risk.

So the second patch for God of War Ragnarök Fixed many critical bugs, improved the game’s performance and increased its stability on various platforms, including Steam Deck.

DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES

As part of testing upscaling technologies in God of War Ragnarök With Patch 2 we looked at the work AMD FSR3.1 и NVIDIA DLSS-3.0Both solutions improve game performance, but have different approaches to image quality and frame rate.

FSR3.1 (AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution) enables significantly higher frame rates on a wide range of graphics cards, including older models. This makes the technology accessible to more users, even if they do not have modern graphics cards. However, FSR 3.1 has its weaknesses, such as pixelation and aliasing in dynamic scenes, especially at high performance settings. When frames change quickly and characters move, there may be a loss of detail on small objects, such as blades of grass or parts of the environment, which leads to blurring of the image. However, FSR 3.1 shows a sharper picture thanks to more aggressive sharpening processing, which makes the image brighter and more saturated.

On the other hand, DLSS-3.0 (Deep Learning Super Sampling) from NVIDIA uses deep learning algorithms to restore images, offering smooth and stable gameplay. DLSS is especially good at handling complex scenes with many objects and lighting effects, providing a cleaner, more detailed image. While the picture may appear less sharp compared to FSR 3.1, DLSS 3.0 benefits from greater anti-aliasing and restoration of fine details such as shadows and grass. In addition, frame generation in DLSS-3.0 provides greater smoothness of gameplay, minimizing visual distortions in dynamic scenes.

As a result, FSR3.1 more versatile and accessible to a wider range of devices, providing a clear picture, but DLSS-3.0 offers smoother gameplay and better image quality, especially at high screen resolutions and when using frame generation.
