Official description of the game

The reckless and desperate lone hero has returned to once again shake the rotten, corrupt regime! After a brilliant job of establishing “democratic” order, the real macho Rico Rodriguez decided to have a blast. Tequila, beaches, beauties in bikinis – what else does a tired but satisfied hero need? But there was no long vacation. The former boss hastened to hide on the tropical island of Panau, taking with him a considerable amount of government money. The traitor hid under the warm wing of the local dictator, which means it’s time for the “banana revolution”! You will have to find and approximately punish the scoundrel, and at the same time have some good fun in an atmosphere of general chaos. Shootouts, chases, parachute jumps, theft of cars and military equipment – Rico is ready for any, even the most dangerous situation. At his service is an impressive arsenal of small arms. He is capable of performing the most spectacular stunts, including capturing a flying helicopter! Compared to the first part, the game has much more weapons and equipment.

Features:
*The game will provide you with unlimited freedom of action, that is, you can arrange a local apocalypse or go on a trip and admire the local beauties (meaning nature).
*By choosing the first option, you will get shootouts, chases, parachute jumps, vehicle theft and other illegal joys.
*The agent’s arsenal has been expanded and updated to the point of indecentness, the amount of various equipment has increased several times.
*A special mention goes out to the tricks that Rico learned while on forced leave – now he is able to capture a helicopter on the fly.
*Regarding the vehicle fleet, here too there is a choice – the range of vehicles is not limited to civilian cars, military equipment can also be privatized. All existing vehicles can be upgraded, for which there are more than two thousand parts.

Review: Playability

Just Cause 2 is a continuation of the first part of this project. The full version of the game is expected to be released on March 26, but in the meantime we have at our disposal a demo version of which we will form an initial opinion about this product. In general, game demos cannot really reflect the essence of the gameplay due to the small availability of game content and they are more suitable for visual assessment of quality.. But we can already get an initial opinion about the game.

JustCause2_2010-03-04_21-41-08-10

The game is a huge open world in which we play as a certain mercenary named Scorpio and who takes revenge on the island dictator and his former mercenary. We will probably play mostly on the side of the partisans. The game has complete freedom of action, plus our character has a lot of experience and a decent arsenal of weapons. He is somewhat reminiscent of Superman, only on a local scale. Judging by the demo, we will be treated to breathtaking chases, large-scale shootouts, mind-blowing stunts and lots and lots of other stuff.

If you have played games of this type like Prototype, GTA, Mercenaries 2: World In Flames, then you know that the game is a combustible mixture of all these typical games. So we invite you to check out part of the Just Cause 2 video, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product:

Judging by the demo, Just Cause 2 can become a real hit among games of this genre, so let’s cross our fingers and wait for the release of the full version.

Review: Game Graphics

Let’s start with the saddest thing – the game completely lacks support for DirectX 9, so you can safely forget about playing on Windows XP. And if in previous games released this year There is support for the old operating system, but here it is simply missing. This is a little surprising – the game is multi-platform and will also be released on consoles, which in turn do not support DirectX 10. This means that the game can still run on the old API and thus gamers are already being forced to switch to new operating systems.

The graphics in Just Cause 2 were impressive. And not only impressed, but one might even say amazed. The game is simply crammed with various technological features. Stunning tropical beauty, mind-blowing special effects, excellent physics – all this is simply breathtaking! Crysis received a noticeable blow below the belt and was finally able to make room on the pedestal of the leader in computer graphics. Of course, it was not possible to overthrow the king, but it is possible to become on the same level with him: one thing is cooler in Crysis, and another in Just Cause 2, so in essence we saw a meeting of two equal heavyweights…

Another important factor is the collaboration of the developers with Nvidia, as a result of which the game now supports its new and old proprietary features: Bokeh filter to create a photorealistic optical effect, improved formation of the water surface and NVIDIA 3D Vision technology.

JustCause2_2010_bf

Bokeh filter is certainly not a bad thing, but the effect created can hardly be called photorealistic. It seems that vision has fallen catastrophically and everything before your eyes floats and shimmers in a reddish haze. Well, of course, this is not an acquired taste, but without activating it, the picture seemed much prettier to us.

JustCause2_2010_ws

Improved water surface shaping is based on NVIDIA CUDA and borrowed from real world ocean simulators. Of course, even without this proprietary feature, the ocean is very real, but with the use of NVIDIA CUDA you already begin to doubt that a real ocean can be more real than in the game itself…

Graphics of us in Just Cause 2 I was amazed, now let’s see how the system requirements for the game will amaze us.

Review: Resource-intensive game

For Just Cause 2 you will need a Core 2 Duo 3,0 GHz or Phenom II x2 545 processor3.0GHzand a RAM capacity of 2 gigabytes. We considered the 4 cores declared by the developer to be a little excessive for the demo – 25% of each core was loaded.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using Fraps. in the most resource-intensive place in the game.

JustCause2_2010-03-04_21-53-56-40

Testing was carried out without using NVIDIA CUDA and Bokeh Filter for all modern video cards and with their activation for Nvidia video cards separately. All tests were carried out with 8X full-screen anti-aliasing and 16X anisotropic filtering activated, so that all owners of Radeon video cards would not be offended…

Although the game is designed for Nvidia video cards, Radeon cards also feel quite playable here. Thus, video cards from different manufacturers from different price niches show almost the same performance. In the mode without the use of proprietary Nvidia chips, video cards of the Ge Force 9800 GTX and Radeon HD 4770 level will be enough for you, even for the highest resolutions.

And this is where perhaps the most interesting things begin. Only the Ge Force GTX 25 and Ge Force GTX 275 can maintain the minimum threshold of 285 frames, and then only at a resolution of 1024×768. At higher screen resolutions, and even more so in HD, acceptable FPS is out of the question. When NVIDIA CUDA Enhanced Water Surface Shaping is activated, performance drops immediately. And it doesn’t matter whether the ocean is in your field of view or not – the GPU calculates it even if it is tens of kilometers away, which, in our opinion, is not very appropriate in relation to the distribution of graphic resources.

But this beauty is worth it. And you can guess that it’s not in vain that the game is timed to coincide with the release of new graphic flagships from Nvidia Ge Force GTX 470 and Ge Force GTX 480, which will most likely be able to cope with Just Cause 2 even on extremely large screen sizes. It’s a pity for Radeon video cards – they have unsurpassed GPU power, which essentially has no use…

Conclusion: Just Cause 2 is another leap in gaming graphics. We don’t know how the full version will be implemented, but what we saw in the demo really impressed us.
