Review: Playability
Overall, the idea of the developers of King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame was not bad – England was recreated in detail with all its outskirts and islands, and you, as its savior, must save and protect it from misfortunes. The game is made in the style of the Total War series and is presented on the game map of Great Britain.
We walk along it and seize new territories and reconquer old ones. In general, the economy is very small and this component of the game, unlike Total War, will touch you in passing. It would seem that this is it – gamers will finally not have to waste their skills on all sorts of nonsense and will come to grips with their favorite craft – military.
But no, and the military strategic component looks a little poor and after a couple of missions the stupid distribution of orders like go and attack just gets boring. There aren’t very many worthwhile strategies coming out lately, and hungry fans of tactics will find King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame quite to their liking.
Review: Game Graphics
The game graphics settings in the menu weren’t very impressive, but they didn’t disappoint either – there’s a little bit of everything. In terms of game graphics, we can say that the picture looks quite beautiful, and especially in the game map, where it is simply magnificent. The game landscapes are also very beautiful and delight the eye with their realism.
The game and weather effects are simply amazing. But there is one thing – when the camera gets closer, the flatness of the plant world and the slight clumsiness of the units when viewed from certain angles are visible.
Because of this, we have a double opinion about the game graphics of King Arthur: The Role-playing Wargame – on the one hand, the game is beautiful, but on the other, it is somewhat clumsy and unfinished.
Review: Resource-intensive game
For a comfortable game, fans of tactical strategies will need a dual-core Core 2 Duo 2,4 GHz processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM..
All video cards were tested by the Fraps program at maximum graphics quality in the most resource-intensive part of the game.
We tested video cards from the lower price range at a resolution of 1024×768, video cards from the middle price range were tested at a resolution of 1280×1024, and video cards from the upper price range were tested at a resolution of 1680×1050.
Testing at maximum Low End quality settings at 1024×768 resolution
In the lower range, everything is as dull as in a tank – not a single card is capable of showing acceptable FPS at maximum quality.
Testing at maximum quality settings Midle End at 1280×1024 resolution
On average, a little better, but only a few managed to cross the coveted threshold of 25 frames.
Testing at maximum High End quality settings at 1680×1050 resolution
Here we see that almost all advanced Nvidia video cards are inferior to ATI. We can safely conclude that only owners of Radeon video cards will be able to play at maximum settings without reducing the quality of game graphics.
Conclusion: The game is extraordinary – the idea is not bad, but the implementation is lame. The huge resource consumption of the graphics system (about 80%) will scare away many avid strategists.
