Anthem is a brand new massive action RPG from BioWare. In it, you, in the role of mercenaries, along with other players, will explore a huge wild world. You will have access to different types of Javelin exosuits equipped with different weapons and abilities. In Anthem, you will be able to face the dangers and build up your power.

THE GRAFICAL PART

GAME ENGINE

Anthem uses Frostbite Engine 3.5 at its core. Frostbite Engine is a game engine developed by EA Digital Illusions CE; used both in their own developments and projects of other branches of Electronic Arts. The first game created using this engine was Battlefield: Bad Company in 2008. The engine was designed to replace the technically obsolete Refractor Engine technology used in the firm's previous games.

There are many versions of the engine - 1.0, 1.5, 2, 3, 3.5 as well as a special version of the engine for mobile systems - Frostbite Go. The engine refers to a type of sub-software and is a bundle of several components, such as a graphics engine, a sound engine, etc. In the Microsoft Windows operating system, the game engine supports graphics display using DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1, and starting from version 1.5 - and DirectX 11. One of the announced features is optimization for multi-core processors.

The technology is able to handle the destructibility of the landscape and environment. Supports dynamic lighting and shading with HBAO, procedural shading, various post-effects (such as HDR and depth of field), a particle system, and texturing techniques such as bump mapping. The maximum location size is limited to 32 × 32 kilometers of display area and 4 × 4 kilometers of play space.  

In addition, it is claimed that the maximum draw distance allows you to see the level up to the horizon. It also has its own sound engine, which does not require the use of specialized tools like EAX.

Anthem has a wide range of graphics options. The settings are comparable to the beta version of the game.

The graphics in Anthem are very good, but still, compared to the early build that was shown at the premiere, it was somewhat simplified.

All video cards were tested at the maximum graphics quality by the Action! program. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment :

At a resolution  of 1920x1080,   an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards like the Radeon R7 370 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the level Radeon R9 380X or GeForce GTX 960 . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions like Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 980 Ti.

At a resolution  of 2560x1440,  an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the level Radeon R9 290 or GeForce GTX 970 .  A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 470 or GeForce GTX 98 level  . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions of the Radeon RX Vega 64 LC or GeForce RTX 2080 level.

At a resolution of  3840x2160,  an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the  Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1070  level . A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of  the Radeon RX Vega 64 or GeForce RTX 2070 level .

VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the  MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of  1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.

When using  NVIDIA video cards  , FX 400 or Core i 3 2100 processors showed an acceptable rate of at least 25 frames, and solutions of the FX 8350 or Core i 5 2500 level can provide an average FPS of at least 60 frames .   

When using  AMD  video cards, FX 4300 or Core i 3 2100 processors showed an acceptable rate of at least 25 frames , and Ryzen 3 1200 or Core i 3 2100 solutions can provide an average FPS of at least 60 frames .
