BASIC GAME INFORMATION |
Year of construction: 2012
Genre: RPG (Rogue/Action) / 3D / Online-only
developer: Panzar Studio
Publisher: Panzar Studio
A unique online action game that combines role-playing with an incredible combat system. The game is made in a unique setting of orcs, and battles take place in the arena. The CryEngine 3 engine allows you to see the game in the most modern graphics. A new online game that is a whirlwind team-based online action game in arenas. All made in a beautiful and unusual style that takes us back to the fantastic setting of orc culture, magic and brute force. The basis of the gameplay in Panzar is large-scale team battles in various arenas and locations, for which characters receive experience and money. In between battles, the player, as is usual in online worlds, develops his character, upgrades new skills, buys and improves armor and weapons.
You have a choice of 8 classes (berserker and tank, paladin and inquisitor, technician and sapper, mage and sorceress), 2 for each race (orcs, humans, gnomes and elves, respectively). All classes are completely different in gameplay from each other. So, for example, when playing as a technician, you can make various buildings, such as turrets and sit in them to suppress the enemy with fire, and when playing as a berserker, you, without thinking about anything, rush into the thick of things, simultaneously waving your loud club.
The game is a real MMO-Action with role-playing elements, in which a completely new world will open up to you, never seen before.
THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
Supported OS and graphics API |
This game is supported by the current major Windows operating systems, which include Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7. The game supports DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 modes, and, depending on the operating system, it can work in mode 32 or 64 bits.
It is simply impossible to manually select in which mode the game will start. The game launcher itself determines the system parameters by default and launches the game in the appropriate mode. Any of our manipulations resulted in the game not working. Our testing was carried out only on the Windows 7 64-bit operating system.
Game engine |
The game engine for Panzar Forged by Chaos is very famous and one of the most advanced in terms of graphics CryEngine. The developers stated that the game supports its third version. However, as we know, at the time of the announcement it was announced as the base platform CryEngine 2.
CryEngine 3 is a game engine developed by the German company Crytek and is the successor to the CryEngine 2 engine. CryEngine 3 is initially a cross-platform engine – it is initially aimed at IBM PC-compatible computers and game consoles Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, as well as their subsequent versions . In addition, the engine is focused on the development of massively multiplayer online games.
The CryEngine 3 engine is completely commercial, and the main focus of its development is licensing it to other companies. CryEngine 3 was officially announced on March 11, 2009, and the official release of the engine took place on October 14, 2009. The first game for which the use of CryEngine 3 was announced is the first-person shooter Crysis 2 from Crytek.
Shaders in CryEngine 3 are written once in a high-level programming language, and then automatically compiled for each platform. Shader output is optimized through artist settings and for the XNUMXD environment in which the shader will be used. Thanks to this, it becomes possible to create effects such as the “invisibility effect”, wet, dirty and frozen surfaces, which can be “layered” on top of each other and combined with other shaders that simulate effects such as metal, glass and others.
CryEngine 3 supports real-time per-pixel lighting, reflections, refractions, volumetric heat effects and animated textures to simulate windows, bullet holes, surfaces with sun glare and many other effects. CryEngine 3 shaders use a unified shader architecture that has been available since Direct3D 10.
Übershader is a single shader program with many features: one to four lights, light types, cube maps of reflections, fog, detailed textures, normal maps and specular textures. Millions of Übershader combinations can be generated. Übershader uses dynamic branching, multi-pass splitting, reducing combinations, and accepting options with less functionality and lower performance requirements. Uses asynchronous shader compilation and a distributed task system to compile the shader cache.
Advanced Graphics Settings |
In Panzar Forged by Chaos, the graphical settings include only basic graphical settings. These include four different visual quality settings, changing the resolution, and turning the V-sync feature on and off. Additional parameters include 3D settings.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphic settings so that our users can see for themselves what they will have to sacrifice if the performance of their home PC is insufficient.
Low quality settings |
Medium quality settings |
High quality settings |
Maximum quality settings |
As we can see the difference between high and low settings takes place in Panzar Forged by Chaos. CryEngine is quite flexible in customization to suit the system configuration. Without all the visual bells and whistles, the game looks pretty poor, but this will allow more gamers to enjoy the game…
General visual design and game physics |
Visually, Panzar Forged by Chaos looks simply amazing… We can say with confidence that this is one of the best MMOs in terms of graphics – CryEngine in the right hands is capable of showing real miracles. And the workers from Panzar Studio once again proved it!
The textures are extremely clear, the colors are extremely realistic, and perhaps the only drawback is the limited game locations within one battle map. I just want to go wander into the distance, exploring the beautiful game locations. Let’s eat, the developers will definitely come up with something in this regard…
Physics at this stage only applies directly to the game characters themselves and to the effects of the movement of water particles. We are not yet allowed to destroy the world around us during battles, although we know that CryEngine is capable of delivering unsurpassed physical bells and whistles.
Well, then we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU test |
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the FRAPS program. Note that this is not the first game where MSI Afterburner is not compatible with 64 bits, so it is not possible to use this monitoring program directly in the game. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The minimum and average frame size is taken as the performance indicator.
Since the game is very demanding on CPU resources, the video cards were tested in a place where the load on the CPU is minimal, but at the same time the video cards are subject to the maximum graphic load.
Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 2560×1600 with high and maximum graphics quality settings allowed by the game. 3D Vision technology was also tested. Multi-chip SLI and Cross Fire configurations do not work, and The Radeon HD 6990 had to be excluded from the test altogether, since terrible artifacts were observed when used in the game.
The minimum FPS was not taken in the graphics test due to the impossibility of duplicating identical situations, since the game is in the MMO genre. The test was carried out on test configurations with Windows 7 x64, so the game ran in 64-bit mode with DirectX10 enabled by default.
Testing at high quality settings 1680×1050
At a resolution of 1680×1050 at high settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 level showed the minimum level of performance.
Testing at high quality settings 1920×1080
At a resolution of 1920×1080 at high settings, the minimum level of performance was again shown by cards of the Radeon HD 5750 or GeForce GTS 450 level.
Testing at high quality settings 2560×1600
At 2560×1600 resolution at high settings, many of our tested video cards encountered performance problems, and its minimum level was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 5850 or GeForce GTX 460 level.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1680×1050
At a resolution of 1680×1050 at maximum settings, video cards of the Radeon HD 5770 or GeForce GTS 450 level showed the minimum level of performance.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
At a resolution of 1920×1080 at maximum settings, the minimum level of performance was shown by cards of the Radeon HD 6790 or GeForce GTX 550Ti level.
Testing at maximum quality settings 2560×1600
At 2560×1600 resolution at maximum settings, again many of our tested video cards encountered performance problems, and its minimum level was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 6950 or GeForce GTX 560Ti level. As we can see, the greatest impact of the drop in performance comes from increasing the resolution, especially to the 2560×1600 level.
NVIDIA 3D Vision Test |
Panzar Forged by Chaos Beta does not have a 3D rating in the drivers. But there are settings for 3D Vision itself in the graphics settings and the quality of its performance is quite good. So we recommend that fans of 3D diving use this for this game. 3D Vision.
Testing using NVIDIA 3D Vision technology at high quality settings
Testing using NVIDIA 3D Vision technology at maximum quality settings
For high quality settings in mode 3D Vision in the game Panzar Forged by Chaos Beta we recommend using a class video card GeForce GTX 470, and for maximum GeForce GTX 480 and higher.
VRAM test |
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1680×1050, 1920×1080 and 2560×1600.
Testing at high memory GPU quality settings
Testing at maximum memory GPU quality settings
Both at high and at maximum quality settings, video memory consumption is almost the same and the difference in values is a consequence of errors during various game moments. Peak video memory consumption was 1400 MB at a resolution of 2560×1600.
The optimal amount of video memory usage at high and maximum settings for Panzar Forged by Chaos Beta is more than 1024 MB for NVIDIA and AMD. The graphics buffer works well, so cards with a capacity of 1 gigabyte can also handle the game without problems.
CPU test |
We tested processor dependence on 15 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1024×768.
The Panzar Forged by Chaos Beta CPU test was conducted in the most resource-intensive location for them, and it was in the center of the control point defense, where the most fierce battles take place and the largest concentration of enemies is observed.
Testing at high quality settings 1024×768
The test results cannot be taken literally, since this is still an MMO. But it is still clear that optimization is only for 2 cores and even top gaming processors were not able to overcome the 50 FPS mark. There is only one conclusion – overclocking within reasonable limits is inevitable….
RAM test |
Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows task manager. The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 [email protected] GHz with 8GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory.
Testing at various quality settings
In all quality settings, the game showed almost the same RAM consumption, so the optimal preset amount of RAM is 2 GB or more. In this regard, the game reacted quite adequately to the consumption of system resources.
