GRID Autosport systems 

Grid: Autosport is the successor to TOCA Touring Cars and the continuation of the Grid racing series. The game will offer more believable races than Grid 2. Grid: Autosport has five types of competitions: Touring, Endurance, Open Wheel, Tuner and Street. There are 22 locations and over 100 different routes. Grid: Autosport has a career mode, the ability to drive with a partner, multiplayer, tests and car tuning. 

THE GRAFICAL PART

In this subsection of our review, the main graphical aspects of this game are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphics settings and the quality of the development of the main visual aspects.

GRID Autosport is supported on major Windows operating systems, which include Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Other operating systems are not currently supported by the developers and will not be supported.

Game engine 

GRID Autosport, like GRID 2, was developed on a modified EGO engine version 3.0. EGO is a game engine modified from the Neon engine used in the Colin McRae: DiRT game developed by Codemasters and Sony Computer Entertainment using Sony's PhyreEngine cross-platform graphics engine. The engine is focused on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 hardware and software platforms.

On July 6, 2009, Brian Marshall, CTO of Codemasters, officially announced that the PC version of DiRT 2, which will use the "EGO" engine, will add support for DirectX 11. Thus, the "EGO" engine became the first engine for which DirectX 11 support has been implemented.

GRID Autosport является довольно неплохой игрой, как в графическом, так и геймплейном плане. Codemasters является асом в выпуске высококачественных гоночных проектов АА класса и в данном случае, игра GRID Autosport не стала исключением, продолжив триумфальный ход данной гоночной серии.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as the performance indicator. Below is a video of a test segment of the gaming benchmark:   

Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by GRID Autosport. SLI and AMD CrossFireX are currently not supported by the game. The benchmark is not scripted and happens in a somewhat random order, so the results vary from time to time.

With these settings,  video cards of the Radeon Hd 6850 or GeForce GTX 560 level showed an acceptable FPS.

With these settings,  video cards of the Radeon HD 7770 or GeForce GTX 560 level showed an acceptable FPS. Radeon HD 6950 or  GeForce GTX 560  and higher solutions will be optimal video cards.

With these settings, video cards of  the Radeon R9 270 or GeForce GTX 660  level showed an acceptable FPS. Radeon HD 7950 or GeForce GTX 660  and higher  solutions will be optimal video cards  .

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the  MSI Afterburner program. The results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA were taken as an indicator at resolutions of  1920x1080 and 2560x1600 with various anti-aliasing settings.

The recommended amount of video memory usage for a resolution of 1920x1080 will be 1280 MB of video memory,  for a resolution of 2560x1600 - 1536 MB of video memory and for a resolution of 3840x2160 about 2048 MB of video memory. 

Micro Stuttering Test

Introducing our testing of FPS output latency on a Micro-Stuttering monitor. The results were taken on multi-chip configurations of video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum image quality settings.

We tested processor dependence on 15 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of the video card for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920x1080 with maximum graphics quality settings.

Processor performance in GRID Autosport is quite good, but it is worth noting that when using NVIDIA video accelerators, it is much higher.

The game is able to support all the processing threads available to the CPU, but as we saw from the above tests, peak performance is achieved with 4 cores from Intel and 8 cores from AMD.

RAM test

The test was conducted on the base configuration Core i 7 3970X@4.9 GHz with 16GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory. All used RAM was taken as an indicator. The RAM test on the entire system was carried out on various test benches without running extraneous applications (browsers, etc.).

As we can see, at various quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in GRID Autosport is at the level of 700 megabytes.

With a 4 GB system, GRID Autosport consumes about 2.2 GB of RAM. In the presence of a system with 8 gigabytes, the RAM consumption of all RAM was 2.5 gigabytes. With a 16 GB system, total memory consumption was almost 2.8 GB.
