The fictional universe of the game “Rift: Planes of Telara” exists between many different dimensions (life, death, air, fire, water and earth), the gods who guarded the world of Telara sealed the planet with a magical seal to prevent Regulos the Destroyer from entering it, which devours worlds. Over time, the effect of the seal weakened, which began to cause the appearance of Rifts, which allowed terrible creatures to break into Telara, but those warriors who could destroy the Rift would be rewarded. Also in the game are available all the main functions of RPG crafting, auction, banks and quests and much more.
Review: Playability
At the moment, the game has become available for a trial period of 7 days and everyone has the opportunity to evaluate the feasibility of purchasing Rift: Planes of Telara. For those who like to explore virtual worlds, the developers have in store many rewards for exploring new territories and the game world. The world of Rift: Planes of Telara is seamless, but there are places in it for both PvP fans and those who like to assemble a PvE raid. Rifts, also known as Rifts, are a key and unique feature of the MMO Rift: Planes of Telara, which are cracks through which the energy of other dimensions enters the world. This energy distorts both the earth and creatures located in the zone of action of the rift. There are several types of rifts: life, death, air, fire, water and earth; and they always appear in different places, in different sequences and at different times – that is, no one can predict when and where the next rift will open, and how strong it will be. As monsters appear to be destroyed, his energy will be depleted and he will eventually disappear, leaving a reward for those who took part in his destruction.
Like any other MMORPG, Rift: Planes of Telara is inhabited by a wide variety of races (Bahmi, High Elves, Mathosians and others). There are 6 of them in total, and each race belongs to one of the factions – Guardians or Defiants:
Kelari Lost in the impenetrable jungles of the Kelari Islands, the renegade elves carved their huge cities meter by meter from the dense limestone rock, strengthening each ceiling with the blessings of powerful spirits. They built huge temples so that there would be no end to those blessings, and so that the line of blessed children – the demigods – would not be cut short. Their cities grew, and the larger they became, the more amazing the combination of spirits and machines looked.
Eth The Defiant’s magical technology is based on the relics and ancient wisdom of the Ethian Empire. This long-dead civilization was the first to discover the magical properties of the source stone entering through the original faults. Being a people of the desert, the Ethi have long been accustomed to relying only on themselves and masterfully knew how to change the environment for the better for themselves. With the source stone as their fuel, the Aethi flourished, constantly pushing the boundaries of science and magic. However, the Aethi destroyed their own empire to protect dangerous technology from the Dragon Cults. Today’s Aeth are the driving force behind the Defiant’s search for lost sciences to protect Telara.
Bahmi The Bahmi are the curious but aloof inhabitants of the Razad Canyons. Their distant ancestors, the Shalastiri, came to Telara during the First Blood Storm War through a rift from the Air Dimension. Led by their prince Bahmi, they proved themselves indispensable warriors in battles against the dragon gods.
Mathosians Faith, honor and duty – these are the commandments of the Mathosians, who once ruled the highlands of the North. They value strength and perseverance, giving devotion primacy among all human passions. It was these traits that helped Matosia become the greatest empire in the history of Telara. Unfortunately, all these advantages were balanced by disadvantages, which ultimately plunged the most powerful state into dust.
High Elves Beautiful, graceful and spiritual, the High Elves trace their history back to the depths of the Age of Legends, when the god Tavril and his companions created the world of Telara. They are the oldest Telar clan. For a thousand years, the Elves ruled most of Telara thanks to the forest, which covered almost all the expanses of this world. Only this people have erected a tradition of living on high tree trunks and only they can freely fall from any height without any harm. As true caretakers and protectors of the forests, the High Elves have invisible connections with all the living plants that fill Telara, which gives them limitless opportunities in the healing craft.
Dwarves According to legend, the god-craftsman Bahralt forged Telara, examined his work and was satisfied. The spirits of creation helped him in his work, and he awarded them the gift of life. These dwarves awoke with a desire to build and create, to turn their wildest dreams into tangible wonders.
The world of Telara is divided between two warring factions, the Guardians, who are followers of the gods and are like knights bringing light, and the Defiant, who decided to defeat the enemy based solely on their experience and technological development, but both factions are trying to protect the world from the same threat, and the only difference between them is the methods they use.
Guardians
The Guardian faction unshakably believes that the Demiurges, who have not appeared in the world of Telara for a long time, have not abandoned them, but are preparing their army for the final battle with the god of death Regulos and his assistants. The highest purpose of the Guardians is to save the world of Telara.
Guardians firmly believe in their purpose, and consider it their duty to protect all those in need, even if those in need do not want to accept this gift. Some may think that too much power is concentrated in the hands of the faction, but all this is only for the sake of protecting Telara from world evil. The main task of any Guardian is to protect the world from rifts and the creatures that they generate.
The Day of Judgment, which the Guardians believe in, promises the fall of the world of Telara. They took upon themselves the sacred duty to prevent the fall of the world and restore the Barrier, which will put an end to the separation of dimensions. The oath that the Guardians swore states that they must achieve their goal at any cost, even through the complete destruction of the Renegades.
Defiants
The Renegade faction, unlike their Guardian opponents, does not think much of the old gods and their choices. They are mostly practitioners and realists. Obviously, after the situation on Telara began to become catastrophic, the old gods (Demiurges) disappeared in an unknown direction. And thus, for all the troubles of Telara, the Renegades blame only them. Most of the Apostates do not share the Guardians’ hope for a miracle; they do their job, even if the price is being accused of heresy and other mortal sins.
Also, the Renegades are adherents of the technological path of development. In their opinion, the joint development of technology and magic, and in some cases even their interweaving, will provide incredible opportunities for the development of both culture and the production of weapons that will help in the fight against Regulos and his minions. Creed of the Apostates: “It is better to attack first than to be taken by surprise.” A huge number of military mechanisms and machines, as well as strong magic, according to the Apostates, is what the inhabitants of Telara need to destroy the dragon god, and not pleas for help and old dogmas about mercy. Having eliminated the mortal danger, the Renegades are going to lead a new world, a new era on Telar.
They understand that the methods they resort to are sometimes dangerous for the entire world, but they are dictated by the situation that has developed on Telar. After all, if the danger is more real than ever, and no one is doing anything to correct it, wouldn’t it be right to take a risk? After all, if the world falls, there will be no one to blame for the unjustified risk.
We invite you to evaluate part of the game walkthrough of Rift: Planes of Telara in FuLL HD resolution, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product:
The game is designed for ardent fans of MMO projects, but of course, in my opinion, the draconian fee for spending time in the game is clearly overpriced. But who knows, because, unfortunately, I am not an ardent fan of online games and quite possibly would have a completely different point of view…
Review: Graphics
The game is based on the GameBryo engine. GameBryo Element is a game engine created by Numerical Design Limited (NDL), which became the successor to the NetImmerse engine. Before NDL was acquired by Emergent Game Technologies, the engine was simply called GameBryo.
GameBryo Element is a cross-platform 3D computer game engine written in C++, designed for computer game developers. Like many similar products, the Gamebryo license provides access to the engine’s full source code, so developers are free to customize it to suit their specific needs. Additionally, Gamebryo comes with documentation that includes search tools.
EGT also offers a trial version of the GameBryo kit, which includes the engine and tools for importing assets. This kit does not contain source code, which is only available in the licensed version. Despite this, EGT only distributes this product after an interview with one of their representatives.
For Rift: Planes of Telara, the game engine has been much improved and developed, thanks to which the game has become one of the most beautiful among online games. It is worth noting that the environment and characters were done very thoroughly. We also have huge functionality in the graphic settings, allowing you to flexibly adjust the game to the system. However, we should not forget about the consequences, namely increased system requirements, which we will try to determine in the future.
Review: Resource-intensive game
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Less productive video cards up to the level of GeForce GTS 450 and Radeon HD 4870 are tested on the basis of Core 2 Quad Q9550 and Phenom II X4 940 BE processors, depending on the resource intensity of the game, and more productive ones are based on more powerful solutions. Overclocked versions of video cards presented by sponsors were equal to conventional analogues by reducing their clock speeds.
Our video cards were tested at a resolution of 1920×1080 at the maximum quality settings allowed by the game. AMD Eyefinity technology was tested at maximum quality settings at a resolution of 5760×1080. NVIDIA 3D Vision is not currently supported by Rift: Planes of Telara. SLI and Cross Fire technologies are the most preferable as they allow you to enjoy the gaming process absolutely without any problems.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1280×1024
At a resolution of 1280×1024, the minimum acceptable solutions for the game are video cards Radeon HD 4870 and GeForce GTX 285. Comfortable performance will be provided by video cards of the Radeon HD 5850 and GeForce GTX 560 Ti level.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
At Full HD resolution, the acceptable level is Radeon HD 5870 and GeForce GTX 560 Ti. Comfortable performance can be provided by video cards of the Radeon HD 6970 and GeForce GTX 580 level. Based on the purchase of video cards for the game today, the Radeon HD 6970 and GeForce GTX 580 look the most optimal.
All our AMD video cards were tested at maximum quality settings on three Full HD monitors combined thanks to Eyefinity technology in a resolution of 5760×1080. The panorama of the expanses surrounding you in this case is simply incredible. Video cards with one gigabyte of video memory were unable to pass this test with both full-screen anti-aliasing enabled and disabled.
Testing at maximum quality settings using AMD Eyefinity technology on two monitors at a resolution of 5760×1080 no AA
Testing at maximum quality settings using AMD Eyefinity technology on two monitors at a resolution of 5760×1080
Using AMD Eyefinity technology without activating full-screen anti-aliasing, the minimum acceptable solution is the Radeon HD 6990, and with its activation, you will probably need a tandem of two video cards of this series, combined via Cross Fire.
CPU dependency testing
We tested processor dependence on 10 models of basic configurations, which are the most relevant today. The test was carried out in those places where the value of video cards for the game is minimal and its load was less than 99%, but this time at a resolution of 1280×1024 with maximum graphics quality settings without activating full-screen anti-aliasing.
Testing processor dependence at minimum quality settings 1280×1024
All of our tested models were able to reach the 25 FPS mark. The consumption of CPU resources is unlikely to correspond to the level of the resulting graphics, although this complaint can also be made in the direction of video cards.
Rift: Planes of Telara is a game for fans of numerous MMO projects. For our part, we can wish for speedy localization for our compatriots. |
|
The graphics in the game are quite good, especially for online games. But still, it looks a little dry, most likely due to the outdatedness of the engine itself. |
|
At maximum graphics settings, the requirements for the subsystem are quite high, which does not even fully correspond to the level of the resulting image. |
We express our gratitude to all the manufacturing companies that were able to provide test equipment for our GPU tests and we hope that in the future their number will increase significantly!
