Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a third-person adventure with RPG elements. The single-player story puts players in the role of a strong-hearted warrior on an important mission. He needs to free his master and take revenge on his sworn enemy. In the role of Sekiro, or "one-armed wolf", players will learn many strategic maneuvers and ways to effectively destroy opponents.

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, players can use a wide range of ninja skills, including silent movement, climbing seemingly impregnable obstacles, as well as bloody and at the same time effective massacres of enemies.

GAME ENGINE

The game is based on the graphics engine "PhyreEngine". The graphics engine "PhyreEngine" was originally intended primarily for use on the PlayStation 3, as well as for IBM PC-compatible personal computers running operating systems of the Microsoft Windows and Linux family. Support for the PlayStation Portable was added in March 2010, followed by the PlayStation Vita in March 2011.

The "PhyreEngine" uses the Direct3D or OpenGL Application Programming Interface when using Microsoft Windows, and the "PS3 LibGCM" library from the PlayStation 3 operating system when using it. The engine uses complex parallel processing techniques to optimize for the Cell processor and its SPUs, but the engine can be ported to other multi-threaded architectures. PhyreEngine provides fully functional "game templates" of source code that support the Havok, PhysX, and Bullet Physics Library physics engines. Another feature of the engine is support for deferred lighting and shading techniques.

"PhyreEngine" is a free and open source engine, which allows you to use it not only on Sony consoles, but also on other platforms, such as PC and theoretically even Xbox 360. However, "PhyreEngine" initially focused specifically on the PlayStation 3: it is tailored for specifically its architectural features and reveals the full functionality and performance on it.

Starting with version 2.40, released in March 2009, and continuing in versions 2.50 and 2.60, a completely new vegetation rendering system has been added to the PhyreEngine. It provides tools and technologies for rendering highly realistic trees, woodlands, and grass. For trees, a special Level of Detail module has been developed, which can gradually reduce the quality of trees, removing individual branches, leaves, and ultimately turning the tree into a two-dimensional texture.

Version 3.0 received many improvements and innovations. A new asset pipeline has been implemented, combining improved versions of existing proven exporters with a powerful new processing tool designed to generate optimized assets for specific platforms. The level editor has been rewritten to allow for a data-driven approach to authoring games using the "PhyreEngine". The next innovation was an improved API that provides new functionality for game entities, scripts, integrated physics and navigation components.

"PhyreEngine" contains facilities for integration with other sub-software. It supports connecting Havok, nVidia PhysX and Scaleform technologies to it.

All video cards were tested at the maximum graphics quality by the Action! program. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment :

 Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings by default. The game has a 60 FPS lock.

At a resolution  of 1920x1080,   an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX 460 or GeForce GTX 750 Ti level. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the level Radeon RX 460 or GeForce GTX 1050 . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions like the Radeon RX 470 or GeForce GTX 970.

At a resolution  of 2560x1440,  an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the level Radeon R7 370 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti .  A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon R9 380X or GeForce GTX 960 level  . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions of the Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1070 level.

At a resolution of  3840x2160,  an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon R9 290X or GeForce GTX 980 level. A  minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 580 or GeForce GTX 980 level A comfortable average FPS close to 60 frames can be provided by the GeForce RTX 2080.

VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the  MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of  1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.
