Well, ray tracing in The Lord of the Rings: Gollum requires significant graphics card resources, especially video memory. Even models with 8 gigabytes of video memory cannot completely cope with it at 2K resolution, and 12 gigabyte models already fail at 4K. DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) technologies bring some relief to the situation, allowing you to render the game at a lower resolution and scale the image to the required one. However, in this game, FSR does not always provide a sufficiently sharp image.

Using the Frame Generator also requires a large amount of video memory, and in 4K resolution it needs up to 23 gigabytes, which is a problem for video cards with 12 gigabytes of video memory, such as the RTX 4070/Ti. Enabling DLSS to allow DLSS 3.0 to be used in conjunction with Frame Generator does not improve the situation much, resulting in a noticeable difference in the minimum and average FPS. Therefore, it makes sense to use the RTX 4070/Ti with ray tracing at 2K or less, even with DLSS 3.0.

Despite the RTX 4080's 16GB of VRAM, even it lacks memory in 4K ray tracing resolution. In this case, the RX 7900 XTX with 24 GB of video memory starts to catch up with the RTX 4080 and demonstrates more almost comparable performance, although in 2K it barely caught up with the RTX 4070 Ti.

For lower Radeon RX models, especially with their 8 gigabytes of video memory, ray tracing is strongly discouraged even at FullHD resolution with FSR. It becomes almost impossible to play on such video cards due to memory limitations and low performance.
