Official description of the game

In Silent Hunter 5, the player will be able to walk through a highly detailed submarine using a new first-person view, communicate with his crew and try out the new order system. In the fifth part, players will also find a completely redesigned interface, which will become more accessible and understandable for beginners, but at the same time, at high difficulty levels, it will offer to command the submarine almost with their own hands. No concessions are expected here. Tasks will now be issued not only at the start of the mission, but also directly at sea, when you are entrusted with choosing a target. Well, as standard – an unprecedented level of realism is promised, submarines recreated down to the last detail based on real prototypes and good graphics.

Experience the thrill of hunting and living the dramatic life of a submarine captain like never before. Help me write a riveting chapter of the entire world history of the war. The commanders more accurately recreated German submarines in the Atlantic theater of operations.

Features:

This time you will become the captain of a German submarine, who will hunt down his opponents under water, like hidden crocodiles in river waters, waiting for their prey.
For the first time in the series, you will have the opportunity to directly communicate with your crew, raising their morale with fiery speeches and successful combat operations, and you can experience their hard work yourself. Stunning detail of the smallest objects, a new interface that is understandable to both seasoned sea wolves and beginners, as well as the ability to choose your own military strategy
Cinematic quality with enhanced graphics environment and highly detailed underwater models enhances the level of realism & immersion in the game.

Review: Playability

Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic, to be honest, is of interest only to sophisticated fans, well, very sophisticated. The game is built on a complete simulation of the life of a submariner and in order to complete a certain mission you need to complete a series of routine actions.

sh5_2010-03-08_12-23-29-65

Firstly, you still need to get to the enemy, and this will take a fair share of your time. Secondly, you need to have a certain skill in naval battle tactics. You need to be able to skillfully track, sneak up and attack your prey. But in a naval battle, superiority will not always be on the higher side; the role of the pursued victim may pass to you during the game itself. And thirdly, the game has specific controls, which are not easy to get used to right away.

But enough about the shortcomings. A huge advantage of the game is that every user will be able to feel like a full-fledged member of the submarine’s crew and send more than a dozen enemy ships to the seabed! The interior of the submarine looks very real and the fullness of “game immersion” is felt: we can easily move around the cabin, engineering, torpedo, engine compartment, command room and upper deck. The behavior of the crew also corresponds well to maritime canons. In general, the simulation of the life of a submariner in Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic is implemented at its best.

Experienced users will get a lot of pleasure from the game, but other gamers will find it unattractive and boring.

Review: Game Graphics

The game graphics of the game are quite good and can boast of high technology. Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic boasts excellent detail, excellent special effects and good implementation of the ocean water surface. Although she won’t be able to show off the latter for long. Just Cause 2 is coming out soon, in which this implementation looks head and shoulders above and more efficiently.

sh5_2010-03-08_12-28-19-90

As we wrote earlier, the game has a very well designed interior of the submarine and excellent detailing makes the picture quite real. Of course, the character models themselves are still far from today’s realities, but they still look up to par.

sh5_2010-03-08_13-15-50-96

Silent Hunter 5 implements good physics of ship destructibility and torpedo hits create a fascinating picture. In general, we can conclude that the game has very good graphics and its visualization will appeal to many users.

Review: Resource-intensive game

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using Fraps. in the most resource-intensive place in the game.

sh5_2010-03-08_12-25-03-26

At the beginning, we considered the interior of the submarine to be the most resource-intensive place. But this only applied to Nvidia cards. Radeon cards also showed incredible performance. Therefore, we did not decide to use this discrepancy in comparing video cards. In the port area, in free flight mode, the chances of video cards leveled out and the red-skins had to sweat on par with their green-skinned brothers. So we considered this mode the most suitable for comparison.

In general, we can safely conclude that the game is more optimized for Radeon video cards and in most gaming moments they will show more impressive performance. So for anyone who wants to buy a video card for this game, the conclusion is quite obvious…

Conclusion: Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic is a game for everyone. The only thing that can attract other users is good game graphics, and even then not for long.
