Official description of the game
The modern world is rich in tyrants who seize countries and impose their policies. This happened in the country of Isla Trueno. To protect civilians from a tyrant, the US organizes a covert military operation to remove the tyrant and free the oppressed politician.
We all miss great sniper games. Pathetic missions in some shooters look like a breath of fresh air, smoothly turning into all-out carnage. An optical sight is not yet a guarantee of a sniper shot. City Interactive studio presents a new project, which is entirely dedicated to the difficult everyday life of a military sniper. The modern world is rich in tyrants who seize countries and impose their policies. This happened in the country of Isla Trueno. To protect civilians from a tyrant, the US organizes a covert military operation to remove the tyrant and free the oppressed politician. It promises realistic physics of bullet flight, calculation of the flight path, taking into account the wind and the shooter’s heartbeat. At high difficulty levels there is no target illumination, complete darkness and incredible realism – do not forget to secure your shooting position with mines and tripwires – the enemy will not sleep. Rich and modern graphics should make the gameplay even more fun!
Features:
– A realistic shooter about the everyday life of a sniper
– Calculation of bullet flight, taking into account various corrections of its flight
– Gorgeous graphics
– Completing missions using two different characters
– Brutal melee kills – gouging out eyes and cutting throats
Review: Playability
There is just over a week left before the release of the full version of Sniper: Ghost Warrior and at the moment everyone can test the demo version of this product. The game was developed by the City Interactive studio, which has never been famous for releasing high-quality games. All of its products have never been able to boast of either plot, gameplay, or graphics. But it seems that the studio is tired of being herded by those left behind, and it decided to take the first step on the way to the big leagues. The main idea was taken as a sniper theme, which is not very popular among developers today.
The player’s main weapons are various types of sniper rifles, melee weapons, explosives, etc. There are four types of sniper rifles in the game: AS50, MSG90, SR-25 and SVD. According to the developers, the flight path of the bullet will be calculated taking into account corrections for wind and gravity.
A total of 16 missions are announced in the full version of the game. In the story, elite special forces soldiers were sent to the fictional country of Isla Trueno, which is located on an island and whose democratic government was overthrown and power was seized by the military. On the island, the invaders have discovered huge reserves of uranium and are threatening to hand it over to international terrorists. The US government sends several professional soldiers to the area to carry out various missions behind enemy lines.
Missions in the game will be non-linear. Among them there will be missions in which the player will play as one of the squad’s stormtroopers, or which will need to be completed without raising the alarm, or to destroy a certain number of enemies, or to help other soldiers in battle, etc. The demo featured two game missions – night and day. And if in the first it is at first very difficult to understand and figure out what and when to do, throwing you into constant respawns, then the second is a little easier and already goes like clockwork.
We invite you to evaluate part of the game walkthrough of the second mission of Sniper: Ghost Warrior Demo, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product:
It’s too early to draw premature conclusions, but the gameplay component in the demo left quite positive emotions. Let’s hope that in the full version of Sniper: Ghost Warrior we will see more large-scale and exciting combat actions, and the plot won’t let us down either.
Review: Game Graphics
The game is based on the not very popular, but quite technologically advanced Chrome Engine 4. As we all remember, this is the latest cross-platform version of the engine from the Techland studio. The graphics engine (renderer) is the main part of the Chrome Engine, responsible for displaying all game graphics. Below are the engine’s characteristic features:
Multiplatform support
Initially, the Chrome Engine was PC-exclusive, but the latest versions have already been developed to support current generation game consoles – Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. On PC, the engine supports older versions of DirectX, current DirectX 9/10 and DirectX 11. But in the demo version of the game Only support for DirectX 9 was implemented, which will most likely carry over to the full version.
Working with locations and objects
Static and dynamic detection of visible surfaces using manually configurable occluders and portals.
An advanced resource management system that allows rational use of GPU processing.
A complex material system that allows you to easily use various scripts for materials in the MaterialEditor utility, available for game developers on the Chrome engine.
Supports per-pixel lighting using normal mapping, bump mapping, parallax mapping, environmental mapping or custom Phong shading.
A system of access levels that allows you to modify all visual aspects of processed objects, a system of access levels for decals.
Supports levels of detail for landscapes and objects.
Well-optimized rendering of geometry in open spaces, extendable by polygon reduction in models or geomipmapping and polygon reduction.
Procedural vegetation and meshes that allow you to create landscapes, grass and bushes or rocks with mountain cliffs.
A flexible road system that allows you to create paths for moving objects, roads, streams or rivers of varying complexity. Using this feature, it is possible to create large locations, such as a city, with simulating the movement of pedestrians and cars, similar to the Grand Theft Auto series of games.
Effects and lighting
Post-effects manager: 64-bit HDR rendering, depth of field, tone mapping, edge antialiasing, gamma correction, motion blur, bloom, glow, ambient occlusion. Support for some effects was added in the third version of the engine (Chrome Engine 3).
Advanced dynamic soft lighting techniques, including the shadow mapping method, dynamic shadows from all scene objects, shadow output filtering.
Advanced particle system, customizable in the Visual FxEditor utility. With this function you can create various environmental effects: city dust caused by wind, fog, solar refractions, rain, water surfaces or fire extended to objects subject to combustion (specified in the properties).
Анимация
Skeletal character animation, supporting complex skeletons, morphing effects, playing multi-structure animation with various physical parameters of the object. Complex facial expressions. The ability to make moving heads and eyes of characters observing the movement of objects on the stage, for example, the actions of the player.
Physics engine
The physics engine integrated into Chrome is based on the open source Open Dynamics Engine, a freely distributed software packaged as a plug-in library.
Supports solid state physics, basic physics with predefined interaction paths. Supports player actions with various objects “lying” on the level, partially destructible environment, rag doll physics for simulating death, vehicle physics, fabric physics for clothing animation, sound effects for interacting with objects, level of physics detail (allows you to customize the degree of interaction with objects , from minimal to most complex, to save resources).
As with Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood, Chrome Engine 4 does not put as much pressure on graphics card performance as its predecessor Chrome Engine 3. The positive side of this is that more users will be able to play at maximum settings. The downside, as always, is the thinner and blurrier graphics. And if we look at the whole picture in general, it looks really good. When you get close enough, various graphical flaws begin to catch your eye.
The most striking of these are the leaves and branches sticking out as you make your way through the undergrowth. Considering the specifics of the game, this can be considered a huge minus. The animation of the characters is not very well constructed and in the dialogues only the movements of the upper and lower lips are noticeable – the rest of the face is pure granite. The physics of bodies is simply amazing – the bodies of killed opponents perform a real somersault when hit by a sniper bullet. The water in the game was disappointing to say the least.
But still, as we indicated earlier, this game is a real breakthrough for the City Interactive studio, and both in gaming and graphical terms it has made a significant step forward.
Review: Resource-intensive game
The Chrome engine has always been open to hardware parts of the system not related to graphics processing. For a comfortable game of Sniper: Ghost Warrior Demo you will need a Core 2 Duo 2.2 GHz processor orAthlon 64 x2 5200+ and 2 gigabytes of RAM.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the Fraps program. the most resource-intensive place in the game.
Our video cards are tested generally in all different screen sizes, and you can evaluate how your video card behaves relative to other modern solutions in almost all different gaming screen sizes. All video cards were tested with maximum quality graphics settings.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1024×768
Although the game was implemented on a slightly trimmed version of the Chrome engine, the requirements for the video system will be slightly higher than those of Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood. Most likely, this is due to the greater density of vegetation (we are fighting in the jungle, after all), which causes a greater load on video cards. To run the game at maximum settings at a resolution of 1024×768, you will need video cards of the Radeon HD 4670 or GeForce 9600 GT level.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1280×1024
When you switch to a resolution of 1280×1024, the situation will change somewhat and your system unit will already need at least a Radeon HD 3850 or GeForce GT 240.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1680×1050
To play on such a now popular widescreen resolution of 1680×1050, for a more or less comfortable game you will need video cards Radeon HD 3870 or GeForce 8800 GT – the old guys, no matter how you look at them, are still afloat.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
And finally, for FullHD resolution 1920×1080 you will need cards of the Radeon HD 3870 or GeForce 9800 GTX level. And repeating with the previous review, if we take into account the drops in the minimum FPS below 25 frames, for complete comfort during the game you will need video cards of the Radeon HD 4850 or GeForce GTX 260 level. This time, fans of ATI cards can celebrate their victory. Representatives of the Radeon line are leaders in almost all price niches. The only one that was able to win was the GeForce GTX 480, but its leadership relative to the Radeon HD 5870 can be considered purely symbolic.
Final World: Sniper: Ghost Warrior Demo made a completely positive impression and raised the rating of the City Interactive studio in our eyes. We hope that the release of the full version of the game will not disappoint us…
