A little time has passed since the release of the Radeon R290X, which could compete on par with the GEFORCE GTX TITAN, and NVIDIA released a faster video card, which is currently the fastest single-chip gaming solution ever released – its name is GeForce GTX 780 Ti .

The GK110 on the GeForce GTX 780 Ti consists of 15 SMX multiprocessors containing 192 computing units each. Each multiprocessor has one PolyMorph Engine and 16 texture filtering units. The GK110 memory subsystem contains six 64-bit memory channels, resulting in a total of 384-bit GDDR5 access interface. Since ROP raster operation blocks are associated with memory controllers, their number in this GPU is 48 blocks. The L1,5 cache capacity is XNUMX MB.
The GeForce GTX 780 Ti model is based on a full-fledged graphics processor with all 2880 activated processing cores, which differs from all previous models based on this GK110. As a reminder, the GeForce GTX Titan is based on a version of the GK110 with one SMX multiprocessor disabled, for a total of 2688 stream processors, while the GTX 780 chip consists of 12 SMX multiprocessors with 2034 stream processors. The number of TMU texture units in this video card is 240, and ROP units are 48.
The GeForce GTX 780 Ti graphics memory will feature six 64-bit memory controllers, resulting in a total of 384-bit bus. 5 GB GDDR3 memory is used. The video memory frequency in the GeForce GTX 780 Ti has been increased compared to previous solutions, and is equal to 7000 MHz (effective frequency), so it provides a bandwidth of 336 GB / s, which is even more than the top model AMD Radeon R9 290X, with 512- bit memory bus.
The cooling system is completely identical to the reference cooler from GTX Titan. The dimensions of video cards GeForce GTX 780 Ti do not exceed the standards for top NVIDIA accelerators: 270×100 mm and the video card occupies 2 PCE slots. The accelerator has 2 DVI connectors and one DisplayPort and one HDMI. GeForce GTX 780 Ti has one 8-pin and one 6-pin power connector.

Overclocking the GeForce GTX 780 Ti was simply incredible. It seemed like where did video cards have such extensive hidden reserves – it includes all activated GK110 processors and higher clock speeds compared to its predecessors.
But we must give NVIDIA engineers their due – a more advanced revision of the chip and an improved power subsystem work wonders. Overclocking by 200 MHz from the nominal value without raising the voltage is something, and when boosted, the frequencies sometimes reach 1250 MHz!

Our video cards were tested at different screen sizes of 1920×1080, 2560×1600 and 3840×2160 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by the games, and, of course, by the resources of the video cards. In this case, we took the latest gaming hits, which, at various quality settings, have the greatest impact on the drop in video card performance. These include the most resource-intensive games of our time.

The test was carried out on one of the most powerful gaming configurations to date based on the Intel Core i7-3970X with overclocking to 4.9 GHz, 16 gigabytes of DDR3 RAM with a frequency of 2133 MHz and an SSD OCZ Vertex 3 hard drive.

In Crysis 3 for FullHD, all video cards have excessive performance. At 2560×1600, the GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti performed well in overclocking and competes with the GTX 690 and HD 7990. At 4K SLI GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti is beyond competition, but NVIDIA specialists still need to work on optimizing for multiprocessor mode.
Total War ROME II

В ROME II SLI does not work, and AMD CrossFireX behaves rather strangely. We encounter performance problems in 4K and only GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti can handle this game when overclocked.
Call of Duty Ghosts
The game will be released at the crossroads of several generations and will visit all modern and future gaming platforms. It is worth noting that in connection with the release of a new generation of consoles, the developers of Call of Duty Ghosts have made some visual improvements that should make the game more competitive in terms of graphics with Battlefield 4.

In Call of Duty Ghosts the situation is similar to Crysis 3 – for FullHD HD the performance of video cards is excessive. At 2560×1600, the real tops show their suitability for gaming, but at 4K SLI, multi-chip configurations are the most attractive.
Batman: Arkham Origins
Batman: Arkham Origins left behind only positive impressions. And if the last part of the game looked very, very impressive, then the continuation of the series was no exception and will even more please sophisticated gamers who love to enjoy all possible visual effects.

In Batman: Arkham Origins with PhysX high settings, as we wrote in a recent review, there are problems with SLI, which is reflected in poor scalability of the chips. All solutions are suitable for 2560×1600, and for 4K – SLI from older solutions and an overclocked GTX 780 Ti.
Battlefield 4
Battlefield 4 represents a significant improvement to the series, bringing impressive levels of graphics to modern games. You can safely put your hand on your heart and say that Battlefield 4 is one of the most beautiful games of our time, which has raised a new level of quality for games in this genre.

Battlefield 4 has a similar picture to its predecessors. Note that the GRFORCE GTX 780 Ti overclocked at 4K looks very bright, and at 200% resolution the GRFORCE GTX 780 Ti SLI shows the highest performance.
GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti – this is simply an incredible solution for extreme players. This video card not only provides incredible performance in games, but also shows stunning overclocking results, which in some cases allows it to outperform dual-chip solutions of the previous generation – GTX 690 and Radeon HD 7990. If video cards did not have such stunning overclocking potential, the price would seem overpriced – but in this case, the overpayment is worth it.
GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti SLI – an excellent solution for gaming in 4K resolution, which provides simply phenomenal performance in this mode. But it is worth noting that in some cases, SLI in 4K does not work at full capacity, and NVIDIA driver developers still need to do a lot of work to optimize it.
But five, as we said earlier, the performance in the 1920×1080 mode of the video cards tested above is currently excessive. For FullHD, a GEFORCE GTX 680/770 or Radeon HD 7970/ R9 280X will be enough for reasonable consumers for now. It would be rational to purchase video cards of the GEFORCE GTX 780 level and higher for resolutions of 2560×1440. Well, for 4K, of course, productive tandems from multi-chip tops will be needed.
Regarding the absence of AMD R9 series video cards in the tests, we do not buy graphics solutions; NVIDIA and AMD provide them for testing. AMD experienced some delay with samples for our test bench this time, but they will try to solve this problem in the near future.
