Official description of the game

The PC version of the new project of the world-famous series, which tells the story of a brutal confrontation between intelligent combat robots. Win the war that marked the beginning of a great confrontation! A war that broke out long before the transformers came to Earth. A war for dominance on Cybertron, the home planet of powerful robots.

Review: Playability

In response to the reaction of many fans who were “frustrated by Michaelbay’s insectoid versions” of the Autobots and Decepticons in the 2007 and 2009 films. (which they nicknamed “Bayformers”), the design team tried to add a “modern polish” to the appearance of the robots so that their appearance would evoke associations with the animated series that created the prevailing public vision of what Transformers should be.

TWFC_2010-06-25_13-30-18-04

The location of the game is the planet Cybertron, the time of action is even before contact with the planet Earth. The game will show the origin story of the Transformers, and there will be separate campaigns for the Autobots and Decepticons. The environment is made in a surreal style to give the world of robots more realism. And if the two previous parts were boring, causing only a reaction of rejection literally after a few minutes of gameplay, as a result of which I wanted to immediately delete the game, then Transformers: War for Cybertron from the very beginning evokes a certain amount of sympathy and passion.

We invite you to evaluate part of the game walkthrough of Transformers: War for Cybertron, where you can see for yourself the quality of this product:

From the very beginning of the game, we are thrown into the thick of battle without any preliminary preparation, and we figure out the game controls on the fly, so to speak. Although this cannot be considered a big problem – the controls are very typical and literally after a couple of minutes of play you are fully involved in the gameplay. The game is very dynamic and full of constant action, although there is one main drawback – the same type. Literally all levels and boss fights are similar to each other, but if you spend an hour and a half a day on the game, this defect will not be very noticeable and will be blurred by time intervals. We think Transformers: War for Cybertron will be very interesting to many users and is worth paying attention to.

Review: Game Graphics

On this occasion, you can not go broke too much and mention that again the game is built on the all-pervasive Unreal Engine 3. Although, by the way, it fits perfectly with Transformers: War for Cybertron and quite realistically conveys the atmosphere of the Autobots’ home planet.

TWFC_2010-06-26_13-10-23-85

The levels are linear as expected and no large open spaces are provided. The scenery of the levels is nice, although it could have been organized much better. The transformer models are made very nicely and have no complaints. The physics of the gameplay is quite standard as for all games built on Unreal Engine 3.

TWFC_2010-06-26_13-23-21-90

There is practically nothing to describe as we see about the game graphics – Unreal Engine 3 is completely worn out and then we will move directly to the game tests.

Review: Resource-intensive game

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using the Fraps program. the most resource-intensive place in the game.

TWFC_2010-06-26_13-00-00-93

Our video cards are tested generally in all different screen sizes, and you can evaluate how your video card behaves relative to other modern solutions in almost all different gaming screen sizes. All video cards were tested with maximum quality graphics settings. The game has an internal limit on the number of frames, and its limit is 30. Once again, this is a console port and it is quite likely that on many systems it can behave very inadequately…

Testing at maximum quality settings 1024×768

TWFC_1024

As one song says: beauty is among those who are running, those who are not first and those who are lagging behind – the limit of 30 frames turned out to be generally reconciling. Although younger models of video cards can compete with each other in terms of performance. So, for comfortable gaming at a resolution of 1024×768, you will need at least a Radeon HD 2900 Pro or GeForce GT 220.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1280×1024

TWFC_1280

At a resolution of 1280×1024 it will be necessary to have cards of the Radeon HD 2900 XT or GeForce 8800 GS level.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1680×1050

1680_tr

At a resolution of 1680×1050, players will need video cards Radeon HD 3850 or GeForce 8800 GS.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080

TWFC_1920

And finally, at a resolution of 1920×1080, cards of the Radeon HD 3870 or GeForce GT 240 level will already be required. This is not so unrealistic today and for many the game will not bring a lot of slowdowns, although the influence of the platform transfer may still take place.

Final World: Transformers: War for Cybertron is the third product in the series, which is not related to the films. Separation from the Hollywood canons only benefited the game – the result was a completely playable product, and only the monotony slightly spoiled the overall impression of the game.
