THE GRAFICAL PART |
This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.
Supported OS and graphics API |
Wargame AirLand Battle is supported by the main Windows operating systems, which include Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. Other operating systems are not currently supported by the developers.
The priority and main graphics API for the multiplayer game Wargame AirLand Battle is DirectX 11 but also video cards DirectX 9 is supported by the game. The game runs through the digital service Steam.
Game engine |
The Wargame AirLand Battle game engine provides very wide possibilities for scaling the game map. The camera can be positioned either close to the ground or at bird’s eye view. All buildings are destructible. Fires can occur in forests, fields and cities from shell explosions.
Unfortunately, we could not find more detailed information about the graphics engine.
Advanced Game Settings |
Wargame AirLand Battle has a colossal arsenal of graphic settings, where we can flexibly manipulate both basic and advanced parameters, adjusting them to the performance of any modern gaming system.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum, medium, and maximum graphics quality settings. Comparisons of modes with and without anti-aliasing are also presented.

As we can see, the difference between the different settings is not very different from each other, and mostly there is a slight change in the color scheme. |
General visual design and game physics |
Wargame AirLand Battle is a PC exclusive in the RTS genre and even supports some advanced DirectX 11 features, which suggests that the developers carefully approached the development of the product for modern hardware. Of course, they didn’t forget about later systems, because DirectX 9 is also supported by Wargame AirLand Battle.
But again, to some extent, we do not have as perfect graphics as many users would like to see in modern strategies. This is largely due to the fact that Wargame AirLand Battle is a very large-scale project with huge strategic maps and modern equipment might not be able to handle more advanced graphics…
Next, we will move directly to gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU test |
All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. The average and minimum FPS were taken as performance indicators.
Our video cards were tested at separate screen sizes of 1920×1080 and 2560×1600 at the maximum graphics quality settings allowed by Wargame AirLand Battle. Multi-chip configurations from NVIDIA do not work, but AMD CrossFireX works without any problems.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
At a resolution of 1920×1080 at maximum settings, an acceptable level of performance was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 6850 level or GeForce GTX 650. The optimal video cards will be solutions HD 6870 or GeForce GTX 560.
Testing at maximum quality settings 2560×1600
At a resolution of 2560×1600 at maximum settings, an acceptable level of performance was shown by video cards of the Radeon HD 5850 level or GeForce GTX 650 Ti. The optimal video cards will be HD 7870 or GeForce GTX 480 solutions.
VRAM test |
Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the program MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on top video cards from AMD and NVIDIA with separate screen sizes 1920×1080 and 2560×1600 with different anti-aliasing settings.
Testing at maximum memory GPU quality settings
The recommended amount of video memory usage for this game is around 1024-1280 MB for various graphics quality settings.
CPU test |
We tested processor dependence on 17 models of basic configurations that are relevant today. The test was carried out in those modes where the value of video cards for the game was minimal and its load was less than 99%, this time at a resolution of 1920×1080 with maximum graphics quality settings.
Testing at maximum quality settings 1920×1080
Almost all tested processors showed good performance in the game. The only exceptions may be dual-core models, which can sometimes experience significant drawdowns.
Loading of processor cores at maximum quality settings 1920×1080 Intel%
Loading of processor cores at maximum quality settings 1920×1080 AMD%
Wargame AirLand Battle can use up to four computing cores; the game clearly doesn’t need more of them.
RAM test |
Testing of the RAM consumed by the game was carried out by monitoring directly through the Windows task manager. The test was carried out on the basic configuration of Core i 7 [email protected] GHz with 16GB DDR3 2400 MGz pre-installed memory.
Testing at various quality settings
As we can see, with various basic quality settings, the amount of RAM consumed in Wargame AirLand Battle ranges from 700-1000 megabytes. Thus, for a comfortable game you need to have 2 minimum GB of RAM installed in your PC.
