MODE CONFIGURATION Unobtanium

Unlocking Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora's maximum graphics settings using the "Unobtanium" settings represents a significant step in enhancing the game's visual quality. These settings allow you to achieve extreme detail and realistic graphics, making the game look more attractive and immersive.

To unlock these settings, players need to add a special command line argument -unlockmaxsettingsin the game properties in the Ubisoft Connect client. This action unlocks Unobtanium settings that go beyond the standard Ultra settings, offering improved ray tracing, shadows, and reflection resolution.

First of all, ray tracing is improved, which allows you to create more realistic lighting and shadows. This is especially noticeable in complex scenes with dynamic lighting, where light flows smoothly through various objects, creating incredibly realistic and vibrant scenes. Reflection resolution is also improved, making surfaces such as water or glass appear more realistic and detailed.

Unobtanium's tweaks also include improved textures and character modeling. Textures become clearer and more detailed, allowing you to better see small details in the world around you, such as leaves on trees or patterns on rocks. Character modeling also becomes more advanced, with improved animation and more realistic movements, adding depth to characters and making their interactions with the world more convincing.

In addition, Unobtanium settings improve the handling of particles and effects such as smoke, fire and water. These effects become more dynamic and realistic, adding atmosphere to the game world. For example, water flows and interacts with its environment in a more natural way, while fire and smoke move and spread as in real life.

It is important to note that such high graphics settings require significant computer resources. They are built with the future capabilities of hardware in mind and can have a significant impact on performance even on today's powerful systems. However, for those who have the ability to use these settings, they offer unparalleled graphical quality and immersive gameplay.

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality using MSI Afterburner. The purpose of the test is to determine how video cards from different manufacturers behave under the same conditions. Below is a video of the test segment:

  Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080 , 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with default Unobtanium graphics quality settings in a game with and without frame generation based on FSR 3.0 and in maximum quality upscaling mode. Video cards with less than 11 gigabytes of video memory are not suitable for this mode...

In the video card test, the default resolution is 1920x1080; other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is carried out on the most powerful CPU in this game and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.

At a resolution  of 2560x1440, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of  the Radeon RX 6950 XT or GeForce RTX 4070 level . A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 7900 XT or GeForce RTX 4070 Ti level . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by GeForce RTX 4090 solutions .

A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by Radeon RX 6800 XT or GeForce RTX 4070 solutions .

At a resolution  of 2560x1440, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 Ti level . A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 4070 level . Testing of video memory consumed by the game was carried out by  MSI Afterburner. The indicator was based on results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of  1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with various anti-aliasing settings. By default, the graph displays the most current solutions. Other video cards are added and removed from the chart at the request of the reader.
