THE GRAFICAL PART |
In this subsection of our review, the main graphical aspects of this game are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphics settings and the quality of the development of the main visual aspects.
SUPPORTED OC AND GRAPHICS API |
Far Cry New Dawn is supported on Windows 7/8 and Windows 10.
The priority and primary graphics API for Far Cry 5 is DirectX 11 .
GAME ENGINE |
Far Cry New Dawn is based on the Dunia Engine 2 game engine. Dunia Engine is a game engine developed by Ubisoft Montreal for their internal projects and first used in the first-person shooter Far Cry 2. Dunia Engine is a proprietary multi-platform game engine used by Ubisoft Montreal is for internal projects only and is not available for third party licensing. The engine supports DirectX 9, DirectX 10, DirectX 10.1 and DirectX 11. The word "dunia" means "world", "earth", "life" in Urdu, Arabic, Kurdish, Farsi, Hindi, Malay, Indonesian and Turkic languages.
In July 2007, Ubisoft officially announced the PC game Far Cry 2 and stated that the game would be based on a new engine called the "Dunia Engine". The game and engine were developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. At the same time, it was announced that Far Cry 2 is a PC-exclusive. According to an official interview with Louis-Pierre Faran, Far Cry 2 Lead Producer, the Dunia Engine used only 2-3 percent of the CryEngine engine code developed by the German company Crytek, since the entire CryEngine code was completely rewritten. However, it is clear that CryEngine is the basis of the Dunia Engine.
On January 4, 2008, an official announcement was made that Far Cry 2 was also being developed for the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 game consoles. On October 15, 2008, Far Cry 2 went to distribution, becoming the first game to use the Dunia Engine. Later, several patches were released for Far Cry 2 that improved the game itself and the engine. On November 5, 2008, patch 1.01 was released, and on December 17, 2008, patch 1.02 was released.
On December 1, 2009, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, the second game to use the Dunia Engine, launched worldwide. The game was released for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Portable, Wii and DS consoles, as well as for PC. James Cameron's Avatar: The Game was the first game to support stereoscopic graphics. This second version of the engine is quite resource-intensive and requires relatively high computational performance for normal operation.
The second Dunia Engine game, James Cameron's Avatar: The Game, has stereoscopic support. In late July 2009, Luc Duchaine, senior international game manager, stated that in order to be able to use the stereoscopic display mode, an HDMI connection and a display that supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz is required.
However, the official stereo FAQ says that a special display labeled "3D-enabled" is required for stereoscopic mode. The game supports most stereoscopic output formats for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, including RealD, Sensio, side-by-side, line-interlaced and full checkerboard. A stereo mode is also available on the PC, and in addition to the above formats, NVIDIA 3D Vision and iZ3D are additionally supported.
At the end of November 2012, Far Cry 3 was released on an updated engine - Dunia Engine 2. Dunia Engine 2 has the following features:
New water technology.
Realistic weather system.
New game AI (artificial intelligence).
New integrated animation system.
Realistic facial expressions.
Motion Capture technology (motion capture).
Global Illumination, more realistic light simulation.
DirectX 11 support.
ADVANCED GAME SETTINGS |
Far Cry New Dawn has a sufficient set of graphics settings, similar to Far Cry 5.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum and maximum graphics quality settings.
DIFFERENT QUALITY MODES |
The difference between the various settings is visible, but it is not critical.
COMPARISON OF SMOOTHING MODES |
The most efficient anti-aliasing mode in the game is TAA.
GENERAL VISUAL DESIGN AND GAME PHYSICS |
Far Cry New Dawn is graphically completely identical to its predecessor Far Cry 5:
Next, we will go directly to the gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

GPU TEST |
In the test of video cards, the default resolution is 1920x1080, other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also choose any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected).
At a resolution of 1920x1080, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX 460 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti level. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 460 or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti level. A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by solutions like the Radeon RX 470 or GeForce GTX 980.
At a resolution of 2560x1440, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards like the Radeon R9 380X or GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION |
Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.
