The S3 Graphics Chrome 540 GTX DisplayPort 256MB GDDR3 model is positioned by developers as a competitor for such solutions as NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT/GTS and ATI Radeon HD 4350.
The graphics accelerator is equipped with 256 megabytes of GDDR3 video memory, which operates at a frequency of 800 MHz. Synchronously with it, the graphics processor works at the same 800 MHz. The memory and card bus is 64-bit, so the manufacturer is forced to use faster GDDR3 memory instead of GDDR2 in order to provide acceptable memory bandwidth. The Chrome 540 GTX model supports DirecX 10.1 and OpenGL 3.0.
