GeForce 6800 GS
High-performance card for the middle-end segment. With the release of ATI's thousandth line and nvidia's 7th series, the company discontinues production of 6800Ultra and 6800GT, releasing "overclocked mid-range" models made according to a finer technical process and switched to a new generation PCB design.
This approach saves a lot of effort and nerves. The video chip of the old architecture has already been “licked out” for a long time of production, it is easier to transfer a less complex chip to a finer technical process, as a result of this - a high percentage of good chips and the absence of unpleasant surprises in any applications. And doping in the form of increased frequencies helped to come close in performance to the recent regulars in the top segment.
