The most advanced GeForce GTX Titan X graphics card at the time was equipped with the GM200 GPU, which is the full version in the GM200 family. The GPU was still manufactured using the 28nm process technology. The GM200 GPU contains 8 billion transistors, making it the most complex chip NVIDIA has ever released. For comparison, the previous leader NVIDIA, the GK110 chip in the predecessor Titan, contained 7.1 billion transistors.

Qualitatively, the GM200 GPU and lower-end GPUs in the line are no different, except that only the GM206 has a dedicated H.265 (HEVC) video decoder. The differences are purely quantitative. GM200 includes an unprecedented number of transistors - 8 billion, so there are one and a half to two times more computing units in it than in GM204 (depending on which ones to count). In addition, the 384-bit memory bus returned to service. Compared to the GK110 chip, the new flagship GPU is not as intimidatingly powerful, but, for example, the number of ROPs is double here, which makes the GM200 well prepared for 4K resolution.

In terms of support for double precision calculations, the GM200 is no different from the GM204. Each SMX contains only four FP64 compatible CUDA cores, so the combined performance under this load is 1/32 of FP32.


The GM200 GPU uses 3,072 stream processors, combined into 6 GPCs (Graphics Processing Clusters). Each GPC contains 4 SMMs (Maxwell Streaming Multiprocessors) with four SMM blocks of 32 stream processors, which gives a total of 3.072 stream processors. Each SMM is also equipped with eight texture units. As a result, the GM200 GPU contains 192 texture units. Note the presence of 96 raster operation pipelines (ROP) and six 64-bit memory controllers.
