GeForce RTX 2070
The GeForce RTX 2070 graphics card model is based on the TU106 GPU. This GPU is used exclusively for this board and has an area of 445 mm², contains 10.8 billion transistors, compared to 13.6 billion transistors for the average TU104 and 12 billion transistors for the GP102 based GTX 1080 Ti.
The full version of the TU106 chip contains three Graphics Processing Cluster (GPC) clusters, each containing six Texture Processing Cluster (TPC) clusters, consisting of one PolyMorph Engine and a pair of SM multiprocessors. Accordingly, each SM consists of: 64 CUDA cores, 256 KB of register memory and 96 KB of configurable L1 cache and shared memory, as well as four TMU texturing units. For hardware ray tracing needs, each SM also has one RT core. In total, the chip includes 36 SM multiprocessors, the same number of RT cores, 2304 CUDA cores, and 288 tensor cores.
