AMD CPUs face potential 50% performance drop in certain apps due to "Inception" vulnerability

Recent tests by Phoronix revealed that the "Inception" vulnerability found in AMD processors can significantly decrease performance, especially in data-processing applications. The most substantial dip was recorded in MariaDB, with performance dropping by over 50%. Nonetheless, in end-user apps such as Blender and Firefox, the impact was minimal.

The "Inception" flaw poses a potential data leak threat, affecting all Zen CPUs. Although AMD hasn't rolled out an official fix, there's a workaround for Zen 1 and Zen 2 processors. Zen 3 and Zen 4 owners might need to stay patient.

Such vulnerabilities and the subsequent performance decreases unfortunately become common in the tech industry. It's crucial for manufacturers to respond swiftly.
