Intel Responds to Allegations of Negligence Over Downfall Vulnerability in Its Chips

Intel has yet to officially respond to the lawsuit accusing the company of negligence regarding the Downfall vulnerability in its chips. The lawsuit, filed by five Intel CPU buyers, claims that Intel was aware of the AVX side-channel vulnerability since 2018 but failed to address it.

According to a report by The Register, this led to a 50% performance decline following the discovery of the vulnerability. It is also alleged that Intel implemented "secret buffers" to temporarily suppress the threat, rather than fixing the issue.

The essence of the lawsuit is that Intel, knowing about the potential vulnerability, did nothing to fix it for five years, putting the security of millions of users at risk.
