Intel's Arrow Lake-S CPUs to Feature Lower Clock Speeds but Enhanced Architecture

Intel is set to launch its new Arrow Lake-S series of processors, which notably features a reduction in clock speed compared to the preceding Raptor Lake-S series. According to recent leaks from Weibo user MebiuW, the flagship model Core Ultra 9 285K will operate at a maximum speed of 5.5 GHz, which is 700 MHz lower than the current flagship Core i9-14900KS at 6.2 GHz.

The upcoming Arrow Lake-S processors will utilize an 8+16 core configuration, including 8 Lion Cove P-Cores and 16 Skymont E-Cores. Despite the lower maximum frequency, improvements in architecture are expected to achieve a performance increase of up to 10% compared to the 14th generation processors at similar power consumption.

Intel plans to unveil the new series at Computex 2024, where it will also showcase capabilities for supporting fast DDR5-6400 memory. The prices for the new processors are expected to be slightly higher than previous models due to added AI features and integrated Xe-LPG graphics.
