Japan's market is currently facing a severe shortage of high-performance NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 GPUs, driven by an unexpected surge in demand. Reports from ITMedia confirm that retailers are struggling significantly to meet the consumer interest in these powerful graphics accelerators. Despite their high price, RTX 4090 cards, in particular, are exceptionally popular and in demand. While demand for these GPUs is at historic highs, market availability is struggling to keep up.

This shortage is affecting all models of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090, including recommended retail price variants priced at around 250,000 yen or $1670. Store owners also speculate that this may not be a localized issue, but an indication of a global shortage in the market.
