NVIDIA Ends GeForce GTX Era, Shifts Focus to RTX Series

NVIDIA is set to conclude the GeForce GTX series, starting with the discontinuation of the GeForce GTX 16 series, reports VideoCardz, citing Chinese sources. This move follows earlier rumors suggesting that the production of the mid-range GPU series without ray tracing and DLSS support would cease in the first half of 2024. The GTX 16 series, therefore, marks the last in the GTX lineup as the company and its partners shift their focus entirely to the GeForce RTX brand.

According to the report, the remaining stock of GTX 16 series models is expected to sell out within the next 1-3 months. The discontinuation represents NVIDIA's pivot towards its more advanced RTX series graphics cards, which support the latest rendering technologies such as ray tracing and DLSS.

With the GTX 16 series phasing out, NVIDIA's new entry-level models will include the mobile RTX 2050 and desktop RTX 3050 cards. This transition signifies a new era in NVIDIA's graphics solutions, emphasizing the company's commitment to advancing ray tracing and DLSS technologies, thereby setting new standards in the gaming industry and graphic design.
