Gamers should take their time upgrading to Windows 11. AMD has confirmed that Ryzen processors are losing up to 15% of their gaming performance.

Windows 11 should offer a lot of cool features for gamers, but performance suffers not only with VBS activated, but also when using an AMD Ryzen processor. AMD has officially confirmed the presence of two problems that can reduce performance.

Problem #1: L3 cache latency is tripled, which means some games run 10-15% slower than before, other programs should only experience a 3-5% performance drop.

Problem #2: Tasks are not always correctly assigned to the fastest available processor core, which can degrade performance. According to AMD, this issue is especially noticeable on processors with more than eight cores and a TDP of more than 65W.

Both issues should be resolved during October with software updates. Until then, AMD encourages affected users to continue using Windows 10. It's unclear why these issues weren't seen in beta testing.
