Cooler Master Introduces New 12VHPWR Angled Connector to GX Power Supply Lineup

While most users looking to upgrade their graphics card to a 16-pin model see Cooler Master's new GX power supply line as a great choice for their PCs, 12VHPWR overheating issues remain open.

Cooler Master GX PSU Enhanced 12VHPWR 16 Pin

Recently, PCI-SIG introduced new 12V-2x6 PCIe 6.0 slots, which are already integrated into modern graphics cards, which can bring hope to users. However, in the light of past events, it becomes clear that the 12VHPWR connection concept is full of flaws.

PSU manufacturers like MSI are inventing new methods to solve 12VHPWR overheating problems. MSI, for example, uses colored connectors to show consumers when a connector is fully inserted.

In turn, Cooler Master is introducing a new 90-degree connector to its power supplies. This connector, according to the company, has 25% thicker pins and 45% lower impedance change, resulting in lower temperatures.

It is important to note that 90-degree connectors are not new to the industry. Cablemod had previously introduced a similar product, but it caused overheating issues that sparked public comment.

Cooler Master has not indicated which PSU models will include the new connectors, but it is expected that they will appear in newer models such as the GX III GOLD.
