The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 demonstrates modest overclocking results

Despite an embargo on full reviews of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060 GPU , the company has allowed some content creators to post limited performance reviews of the new GPU budget. Youtuber JayzTwoCents tested it on Cyberpunk 2077 and found that the Asus RTX 4060 Dual performs modestly when overclocked.

After overclocking, with a 100MHz increase in core power and a 20% increase in power consumption compared to the base settings, the card showed only a 2% increase in frame rate. Still, at stock settings, the card outperforms its predecessor, but don't count on additional performance gains from overclocking - at least not in Cyberpunk 2077.

During the JayzTwoCents preview, the RTX 4060 was the least impressive aspect of overclocking. Despite the large headroom, the RTX 4060 boosted the average frame rate in Cyberpunk 2077 from just 81 fps to 82.5 fps.

However, despite all this, in limited testing, the JayzTwoCents RTX 4060 performed well. The RTX 4060 vastly outperforms the RTX 3060 in Cyberpunk 2077, showing a 27% advantage at 1080p. If the RTX 4060 can support this performance improvement in other games, it could be a good upgrade path for RTX 2060 owners starting at $299. Nvidia is also offering this as an upgrade for GTX 1060 owners who have been postponing the upgrade for a long time, in which case they will see significantly larger gains as well as additional RTX features like ray tracing and DLSS.
