NVIDIA updates the GeForce RTX 4090 chip.

NVIDIA RTX4090

Reddit user under the pseudonym cavitysearch123 became the proud owner of one of the first NVIDIA RTX 4090 Founder Edition graphics cards with an AD102-301 GPU. This GPU upgrade was unexpected as it hadn't been previously reported.

The voltage limit on the new graphics card has been confirmed using MSI Afterburner's voltage/frequency curve editing tools and ASUS GPU Tweak. Despite the changes, the maximum voltage is 1.07V, which is less than the original 1.1V model. It is not clear if this limitation only applies to the NVIDIA Founders Edition or if a similar voltage limitation will be applied to other versions of the RTX 4090.

It's not yet certain that all RTX 4090 graphics cards with the new GPU will have the same power cap as more samples need to be studied. However, this fact is of some interest and may affect the characteristics and performance of the card.

During a detailed analysis of the graphics card, the user noticed that the RTX 4090 FE has a new model ID in the GPU-Z program. Although the primary PCI ID has not changed, the secondary ID has been changed. As a result, flashing the BIOS with the AD102-300 based model becomes impossible due to ID mismatch.

Thus, the discovery of the new AD102-301 GPU on the RTX 4090 Founder Edition graphics card has sparked interest in the community. The issues of power limitations, possible changes in performance and the applicability of the new GPU to other versions of the card remain open. Future studies and analyzes of other samples will help clarify the situation and the possible implications of this update.
