MSI MPG Z790 Edge WiFi includes 4 DDR5 DIMMs with a maximum capacity of up to 192 GB. For the file subsystem, the motherboard supports 5 M.2 PCIe 5.0/4.0 x4 slots and 6 SATA 6Gb/s ports.

The MSI MPG Z790 Edge WiFi offers a large number of rear USB ports, including HDMI, Display Port, and two USB4 Type-C ports with 40Gbps bandwidth and 8K display support. Wi-Fi 6E and 2.5G Ethernet interfaces are responsible for the high data transfer rate in the network.

MPG Series
It attracts users with its combination of high performance and unique style. More and more gamers, following modern trends, want to emphasize their individuality. That is why the MPG series focuses not only on the power of the line of devices, but also on their appearance.
Cooling system
The larger heatsink increases the total heat dissipation area for efficient cooling under heavy loads. A direct contact heatpipe connects two power system heatsinks to increase the overall heat dissipation area. High-performance thermal pads are used to transfer heat from the power elements to the heatsink.
The cooling system for SSDs in M.2 slots prevents performance drops that can occur due to overheating. Double-sided M.2 Shield Frozr heatsinks prevent overheating of SSDs in M.2 slots running in PCIe 5.0 speed mode.
The oversized radiator is responsible for cooling the chipset - a silent, but at the same time a very effective solution.
Slots LIGHTNING GEN 5 PCIE STEEL ARMOR
The motherboard has additional solder points and is reinforced with steel elements, which allows you to use massive video cards without the risk of damage. MSI motherboards use an advanced PCI-E SMT(Surface Mount Technology) slot to reduce interference and electrical noise. Supports higher bandwidth and higher signaling speed of PCI-E 5.0.
AUDIO BOOST 5
Motherboards equipped with Audio Boost 5 technology use special Japanese Chemi-Con capacitors to ensure the best sound quality. In addition to this, the audio processor is protected from the influence of external electromagnetic fields by means of a special shield. The metal alloy from which the screen is made has the best shielding characteristics.

As for overclocking the latest generations of processors, this is already a rather subtle science, because lately processors are already being sold with maximum overclocked frequencies. Therefore, chasing an increase in the frequency of the processor, an ordinary layman can even do the opposite - do harm, significantly increasing its heating and thereby reducing performance.
For maximum system performance, we used 32 GB DDR5 6000 Kingston FURY Renegade memory . MSI has a very convenient Memory Try It! option, in which we set the frequencies we needed, along with adequately selected timings:
Now we will show you how gaming performance changes at different frequencies using the AIDA64 cache and memory test as an example:
Well, as we can see, the best result was achieved with a memory frequency of 6400 with CL32 timings. We got the speed record with a memory frequency of 7000 with CL40 timings. It is worth noting that this is the highest frequency that we were able to achieve from all the motherboards we tested!

| CONCLUSION |
Well, after testing, MSI MPG Z790 Edge WiFi left a pleasant impression. It is attractive in appearance and has good equipment. A lot of attention has been paid to the power of the power subsystem and cooling, which allows you to use the most powerful processors of the Intel series without any problems. I was also very pleased with the quality of overclocking RAM. Well, and most importantly, an affordable price compared to other Z790.
