The events of the game this time will take place on the west coast of the once prosperous states of America. An incredibly long time has passed since the global cataclysm occurred, after which people were on the verge of extinction, and when it seemed that nothing threatened humanity, a new, no less terrible fate befell it. It was based on the “red rot”, with the source of which you will now have to deal with, taking control of Aloy.
GAME ENGINE |
Decima is a proprietary game engine developed by Guerrilla Games and released in November 2013. The engine was originally created for PlayStation 4 internal projects, but later games were created for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 5. Decima includes features such as game artificial intelligence and game physics, and is also compatible with 4K resolution and high dynamic range images.
The engine was created by the Dutch studio Guerrilla Games for the development of Killzone: Shadow Fall (2013). As an internal development, the engine did not initially have a well-known name. Guerrilla Games' next game, Horizon Zero Dawn, was created on it.
The success of Killzone: Shadow Fall drew the attention of Supermassive Games to the technology that Guerrilla Games licensed the engine to create Until Dawn (2015) and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood (2016). These games used the Havok physics engine.
On December 3, 2016, during the PlayStation Experience, Hideo Kojima announced his studio's partnership with Guerrilla Games. Under the terms of the partnership, Kojima Productions received the engine to develop their Death Stranding project without any contractual obligations. At the same time, the name of the engine was announced - Decima. The name was chosen from an island on the Japanese coast of Dejima, where a Dutch trading post was located in the 17th century. For a long time, the Netherlands was the only country allowed to trade with Japan. In this way, Decima reflects the collaboration between the Japanese and Dutch studios.
Guerrilla Games' next game, Horizon Forbidden West, was developed on an updated version of the engine. . The updated version of Decima features more detailed shadow and texture rendering, as well as updated tooling, ray tracing, and more shaders.
