 Overview: Playability

Nail'd is a new arcade racing game with a unique mind-blowing atmosphere accompanied by good music. The game bears some resemblance to last year's Pure arcade game, but this time we have even more incredible action. Throughout the races you will find a constant feeling of high speed on simply incredible tracks. Lightning reflexes and tactical skills will play a very large role, which will constantly put you between victory and defeat.

A variety of motorcycles, ATVs and other extreme vehicles are available, it is also possible to perform various stunts. Several game modes are available in multiplayer, including huge tournaments among extreme drivers from all over the world. The game has 16 tracks located in four zones. Up to 12 people can take part in each race.

 Overview: Graphics

Nail'd has very nice graphics and is based on the well-known, but not very common graphics technology among developers, Chrome Engine 4. Chrome Engine is a series of game engines developed and maintained by the Polish company Techland.

 Naild_x86_2010_12_11_15_49_32_512

Initially, the Chrome Engine was a PC-exclusive engine, but the latest versions have already been developed with support for the current generation of game consoles - Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. On PC, the engine supports older versions of DirectX, current DirectX 9/10 and DirectX 11. Unfortunately, the game Only DirectX 9 is involved...

Work with locations and objects
-Static and dynamic definition of visible surfaces using manually configured occluders and portals.
-Advanced resource management system that allows efficient use of GPU data processing.
-Sophisticated material system that allows you to easily use various material scripts in the MaterialEditor utility available for game developers on the Chrome engine.
-Support for per-pixel lighting using normal mapping, bump mapping, parallax mapping, environmental mapping, or custom Phong shading.
-The system of access levels that allows you to modify all the visual aspects of the processed objects, the system of access levels for decals.
-Support for levels of detail for landscapes and objects.
-Well-optimized geometry rendering in open spaces, extensible by polygon reduction in models or geomipmapping and polygon reduction.
-Procedural vegetation and meshes that allow you to create landscapes, grass and bushes or rocks with mountain cliffs.
-A flexible road system that allows you to create paths for moving objects, roads, streams or rivers of varying complexity. Using this feature, you can create large locations, such as a city, with imitation of the movement of pedestrians and cars, similar to the Grand Theft Auto series of games.

Effects and lighting
- Post effects manager: 64 bit HDR rendering, depth of field, tone mapping, edge antialiasing, gamma correction, motion blur, bloom, glow, ambient occlusion. Support for some effects was added in the third version of the engine (Chrome Engine 3).
-Advanced dynamic soft lighting techniques, including the shadow mapping method, dynamic shadows from all objects in the scene, shadow output filtering.
-Advanced particle system, customizable in the "Visual FxEditor" utility. With this function, you can create various environmental effects: city dust caused by wind, fog, solar refraction, rain, water surfaces, or fire that expands onto objects subject to burning (specified in the properties).

Physics engine

The physics engine integrated into Chrome is based on the open source "Open Dynamics Engine" - free software that comes as a plug-in library. Supports solid state physics, basic physics with predefined interaction paths.

 Naild_x86_2010_12_12_22_45_09_780

Supports player actions with various items "lying" on the level, partially destructible environments, ragdoll physics to simulate death, vehicle physics, fabric physics to animate clothes, sound effects of interaction with objects, the level of detail of physics (allows you to adjust the degree of interaction with objects , from least to most difficult to conserve resources).

Review: Game resource intensive

All video cards were tested at maximum graphics quality by the Fraps program in the most resource-intensive part of the game. Lower performance cards up to the GeForce GTS 250 and Radeon HD 4830 are tested with the Core 2 Quad Q9550 processor, while higher performance cards are tested with the Core™ i7 processor.

 Naild_x86_2010_12_11_14_42_37_410

Our video cards are tested in general at all resolutions, and you can evaluate how your video card behaves relative to other modern solutions in almost all gaming resolutions.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1024x768

Naild_1024

So, at a resolution of 1024x768, any video card of the Radeon HD 4650 or GeForce 9600 GSO level and higher will be required to cope with the game. If we take into account the minimum FPS of 25 frames, then the Radeon HD 4670 or GeForce GT 220 can be considered recommended for the game.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1280x1024

Naild_1280

When the resolution is increased to the level of 1280x1024, almost all video cards remain in service and the level of Radeon HD 3690 or GeForce 9600 GSO and higher will be required. Recommended graphics cards for Nail'd are Radeon HD 4670 or GeForce 8800 GTS and higher.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1680x1050

Naild_1680_2

At a resolution of 1680x1050, the required minimum is video cards of the level Radeon HD 2900 or GeForce 8800 GTS. Recommended video cards. providing an acceptable minimum FPS should be considered a Radeon HD 5670 or GeForce 8800 GTS and higher.

Testing at maximum quality settings 1920x1080

Naild_1920

With HD resolution of 1920x1080, video cards of the Radeon HD 5570 or GeForce 8800 GTS level represent the required minimum. The most optimal cards for Nail'd should be considered video cards of such a level as the Radeon HD 3850 or GeForce GT 430. Based on the purchase of a video card specifically for this game, then the Radeon HD 5670 or GeForce GTS 430 are currently the most preferable.

Conclusion: Nail'd is a beautiful, dynamic and exciting arcade game that will leave many players indifferent. And quite democratic system requirements will pleasantly surprise most owners of not even the "freshest" gaming PCs.
