So, the Radeon HD 5830 video card is nothing more than a somewhat stripped-down version of the Radeon HD 5870. The heart of the HD 5830 is the same AMD Cypress GPU. In addition to lower clock speeds, the new chip received fewer ROPs and stream processors, as well as only 56 texture processors out of 80 possible.

All these modifications significantly reduced the theoretical computing power of the Radeon HD 5830, which turned out to be about 1.5 times lower than that of the Radeon HD 5870. Nevertheless, the manufacturer positions the new product as a high-performance solution for enthusiasts.

In most modern applications, the Radeon HD 5830 will show a comfortable frame rate, although this is not always enough to confidently compete with the single-chip flagship NVIDIA 2XX series.
