3D RAGE II
The ATI 3D RAGE II chip appeared in mid-1996. The second generation of the RAGE chip provided better 3D performance than the ATI RAGE. 3D RAGE II is based on the redesigned Mach64 core. The speed in 2D has increased by 20% compared to RAGE, and full-screen playback of MPEG video has also been added. The 3D RAGE II chip provided support for texture filtering, Mip-Mapping, Alpha-Blending, and Z-buffering. The accelerator worked with EDO, SDRAM or SGRAM memory, the volume of which could be 2, 4 and 8 MB. The price of the chip was . In total, three models were presented in the RAGE II line - these are IIC, II +, II + DVD.
