Origin and influence
Computer role-playing games (CRPGs) have been an important part of the gaming industry since its inception. However, until the advent of Baldur's Gate in 1998, many CRPGs were limited by technology and could not fully capture the depth and complexity of tabletop RPGs such as Dungeons & Dragons (D&D).
Baldur's Gate changed all that by presenting players with a deeply-engineered world where their actions and decisions mattered and had consequences. It was the epitome of what makes D&D special, and the game was praised by players and critics alike.
Baldur's Gate II and its legacy
The success of Baldur's Gate led to the release of a sequel, Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, in 2000. It was one of the most anticipated sequels in the history of the gaming industry, and lived up to those expectations by offering an even deeper world and more complex characters.
What's more, Baldur's Gate II demonstrated that CRPGs can be more than just games, they can also be a storytelling tool. Some of the plot twists and characters in Baldur's Gate II are still cited as the best examples in the gaming industry.
Series break
After the release of Baldur's Gate II and its expansion, Throne of Bhaal, in 2001, BioWare moved on to other titles, including the Mass Effect and Dragon Age series. There have been several attempts to revive the series, but none have been able to match the success of the original games.
Baldur's Gate 3 and Larian Studios

Our video cards were tested at resolutions of 1920x1080 , 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 at maximum graphics quality settings.
So far, we have had to return RDNA 3 cards to our partners for their own activities. The 7900 XT will return to the tests approximately at the beginning of next week, and the 7900 XTX in a few weeks.

Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of 1920x1080, 2560x1440 and 3840x2160 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.
