HUMANKIND is a historical strategy game in which you have to rewrite the entire history of mankind and create a unique civilization from elements of different cultures.
Create your own unique people by combining 60 historical cultures and rule them from ancient times to the present day. Starting as a small tribe in the Neolithic Age, reach the Ancient World as the Babylonians, then meet the ancient era in the guise of the Maya, enter the Middle Ages as the Umayyads, write the history of the New Age from the point of view of the British...
THE GRAFICAL PART |
In this subsection of our review, the main graphical aspects of this game are revealed. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphics settings and the quality of the development of the main visual aspects.
SUPPORTED OC AND GRAPHICS API |
The Humankind is supported by Windows 7/8/10 .
The priority and main graphics API for Humankind is DX11 .
GAME ENGINE |
Humankind runs on the Unity game engine. Unity is a 2D and 3D application and game development tool that runs on Windows and OS X operating systems. Applications built with Unity run on Windows, OS X, Windows Phone, Android, Apple iOS, Linux, and game consoles Wii, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One. It is possible to create applications to run in browsers using a special Unity plug-in (Unity Web Player), as well as using the implementation of WebGL technology. Previously, there was experimental implementation support for projects within the Adobe Flash Player module, but later the Unity development team made the difficult decision to drop this.
Applications built with Unity support DirectX and OpenGL. The engine is actively used by both large developers (Blizzard, EA, QuartSoft, Ubisoft) and Indie game developers (for example, Pathologic remake), Kerbal Space Program, Slender: The Eight Pages, Slender: The Arrival, Surgeon Simulator 2013, Baeklyse Apps: Guess the actor, etc.) due to the availability of a free version, user-friendly interface and ease of working with the engine.
The project in Unity is divided into scenes (levels) - separate files containing their game worlds with their own set of objects, scenarios, and settings. Scenes can contain objects (models) as well as empty game objects - objects that do not have a model ("dummy"). Objects, in turn, contain sets of components that scripts interact with. Also, objects have a name (in Unity, two or more objects with the same name are allowed), there can be a tag (label) and a layer on which it should be displayed. So, any object on the stage must have a Transform component - it stores the coordinates of the location, rotation and size of the object along all three axes. Objects with visible geometry also have a Mesh Renderer component by default that makes the object's model visible.
In addition to free, there are four builds - standard Unity, Unity iOS Pro (for developing games for iOS), Android Pro and a team license. They differ in cost and functionality. The free version has some limitations, but it is possible to distribute games, provided that the annual income from the game does not exceed $100,000. With the release of Unity 5, many of the limitations of the Free version have been removed, but the annual income from the game must still not exceed $100,000.
SETTINGS |
Humankind has only a basic range of graphics settings.
Below we have provided screenshots of the game at various graphics settings, where our readers can see the difference between the minimum and maximum graphics quality settings.
QUALITY MODES |
TECHNOLOGIES |
The graphics in Humankind are quite acceptable for their genre:
Well, then we will go directly to the gaming tests and determine what impact this game has on modern computer hardware.

Our video cards were tested at 1920x1080, 2560x1600 and 3840x2160 resolutions with default ultra graphics quality settings .
NVIDIA GeForce RTX and GTX graphics cards provided by LLC Business Development Center.
GPU TEST |
In the test of video cards, the default resolution is 1920x1080, other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also choose any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is performed on the most productive CPU and scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.
At a resolution of 1920x1080, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 1060 level. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the adeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 1060 level . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by Radeon RX Vega 56 or GeForce GTX 1070 solutions .
At a resolution of 2560x1440, an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards of the Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 1060 level. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the Radeon RX 590 or GeForce GTX 1060 level . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by Radeon RX Vega 64 or GeForce GTX 1080 solutions . .
At a resolution of 3840x2160 an average FPS of 25 frames was shown by video cards like the Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1660s. A minimum FPS of at least 25 frames can be provided by video cards of the level Radeon RX 5600 XT or GeForce GTX 1070 . A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by the Radeon RX 6800 or GeForce RTX 3070 solutions.
VIDEO MEMORY CONSUMPTION |
Testing of the video memory consumed by the game was carried out by the MSI Afterburner program. The results on video cards from AMD and NVIDIA at resolutions of 1920x1080 and 2560x1440 with various anti-aliasing settings were taken as the indicator. By default, the graph displays the most up-to-date solutions. Other graphics cards are added and removed from the chart at the reader's request.
GameGPU
At a resolution of 1920x1080, video memory consumption for video cards with 6 gigabytes is 4800 megabytes, with 8 gigabytes 4800 megabytes, with 11 gigabytes 4600 megabytes, with 16 gigabytes 5000 megabytes .
At a resolution of 2560x1440, video memory consumption for video cards with 6 gigabytes is 4800 megabytes, with 8 gigabytes 5000 megabytes, with 11 gigabytes 4800 megabytes, with 16 gigabytes 5200 megabytes .
