Voodoo5 5000

Voodoo5_5000

At Comdex/Fall '99, 3dfx announced its new VSA-100 chip, which will power a whole line of graphics cards. 3dfx announced the VSA-100 and gave birth to a new technology - Voodoo Scalable Architecture. The abbreviated name of the technology gave the name to the first chip based on it - VSA-100. The essence of the technology is that on the basis of these processors it is possible to build multi-chip solutions, up to 32 or more. Many people remember the SLI technology used in 3dfx Voodoo2 boards when two video accelerators were combined. Essentially, VSA is the same. Only a more flexible and advanced solution.

The chip was created using 0.25 micron technology and has 14,000,000 transistors.
