BASIC GAME INFORMATION

As part of our annual graphics card performance testing in 2023, we will focus on analyzing gaming performance using the highest available graphics quality for each game. This year, Core VRAM and RAM tests, as well as upscales, will not be taken into account. Our goal is to identify the most powerful graphics cards and determine their hierarchical positions in the context of games in 2023. This will be a comprehensive gaming benchmark focused on assessing real-world performance under the most demanding gaming conditions.

THE GRAFICAL PART

This subsection of our review highlights the main graphical aspects of this game. Particular attention is paid to the version of the graphics engine used, the version of the API used, graphic settings and the quality of development of the main visual aspects.

GAME ENGINE

The game is built on Naughty Dog's own game engine, called Naughty Dog Game Engine (NDGE). NDGE is an engine that is used to create games on PlayStation consoles. It uses the C++ and C# programming languages. The engine has powerful development tools that allow developers to create high-quality games with realistic graphics and physics.

For The Last of Us, Naughty Dog used a modified version of NDGE that was optimized for use on the PlayStation 3. The game engine supports the use of technologies such as higher levels of detail, dynamic lighting, shadows and realistic physics.

The game also uses a special animation system called Motion Matching, which allows on-screen characters to react to the environment and players. This technology allows for more natural and realistic character movements, which in turn increases the immersiveness of the game.

NDGE also includes a powerful artificial intelligence engine that allows on-screen NPC characters to react to the player's actions and the environment. This creates a more realistic and dynamic game world where the player's actions can influence the course of the game.

The Last of Us Part I is a remake of the original The Last of Us with enhanced graphics, visual effects and enhanced gameplay. In the video card test, the default resolution is 1920x1080; other resolutions are added and removed manually. You can also remove and add any positions of video cards. You can also select any of our test processors from the list in the drop-down menu, comparing its performance with the given video card tests (by default, the most productive solution is selected). The test is carried out on the most powerful CPU in this game and is scaled to other processors, taking into account their testing on NVIDIA and AMD video cards.

A comfortable average FPS of 60 frames can be provided by Radeon RX 6700 XT or GeForce RTX 2080 Ti solutions .

When using NVIDIA video cards, Ryzen 3 3100 or Core i 3 10100 processors showed an acceptable rate of at least 25 frames per second  , and solutions at the Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i 3 12100 level can provide an FPS rate of at least 60 frames per second .
