The original Unreal saw the light of day in May 1998. Perhaps it is not an exaggeration to say that this game has changed the view of computer games in general and first-person shooters in particular. The game world of Unreal was alien, but, indeed, a living world - plants, animals, birds, air, water, wind, and two suns forever hanging at the zenith ... It was hard not to fall in love with Unreal.
A year later, Epic released Unreal Tournament. The essence of this game exactly repeated the name - unlike Unreal, it was a purely multiplayer competition, but the connection to the Unreal universe still remained. In terms of gameplay, Unreal Tournament was not as "real" as Counter-Strike, and not as fast and sporty as Quake3 Arena, but due to the presence of excellent graphics, unusual types of weapons, good game maps and a wide range of team play modes, it gained wide popularity in the gaming community.
Three years later, Epic showed the world Unreal Tournament 2003 with a state-of-the-art 3D engine that renders complex, highly detailed models and beautiful worlds, new game levels and new game modes.
With the release of Unreal Tournament 2004, the graphics become more realistic, the physics more complex, and the worlds more beautiful.
The game engine uses the previous lighting model and does not use a large number of shaders. Changes can only be noticed in the form of the appearance of new special effects and the complication of models and worlds.
