Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Earthblood - review and comparison of game graphic settings
In today's graphic review, we'll take a look at the graphic settings and how they affect the quality of the picture in Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood.
Let's go directly to testing.
The first item is Render distance. This item has 4 parameters: "Close", "Medium", "Far", "Maximum". As you can see from the screenshots, the difference between "Far" and "Maximum" is clearly visible, the lighting of objects changes: they become darker. When switching to "Medium" changes are not observed. Between the "Near" and "Medium" settings, the changes are noticeable on the cooler.
Smoothing. It has 4 parameters: "Low", "Medium", "High", "Maximum". There is no change when comparing the "High" and "Maximum" settings. On "Medium" the difference is very noticeable, there is a "jaggedness" of the pixels. Switching to "Low" increases the effect.
Postprocessing. It has 2 parameters: "High", "Maximum". The difference is clearly visible.
Shadows. Also standard 4 parameters. For clarity, the comparison was carried out in different locations. In the screenshots, you can see that the difference between the "Maximum", "Low" parameters is minimal: the shadow from the main character becomes "flat", the edges have clear boundaries. In the following screenshots, the difference was not noticed.
Next comes Textures. This item has 4 parameters. For a more detailed study of this setting, screenshots were taken in different locations.
Let's take a look at the screenshots at the first location. There is no difference between "Maximum" and "High". There are minimal differences between "High" and "Medium", pay attention to the screen. A distinctive feature of the "Low" settings - the textures become more soapy and the detailing is noticeably reduced. The most serious "bump" in the graphics is noticeable in the transition from "Medium" to "Low" graphics settings.
Let's move on to the next location. Let's compare "Maximum" and "Low". The mesh texture changes, the nearest wall becomes soapy.
We have one more location left to explore. Let's compare "Maximum" and "Low". Textures become soapy, pay attention to the floor, and detail is noticeably reduced. An interesting phenomenon occurred on the "Maximum" parameter.
Effects. It has 4 parameters: "Low", "Medium", "High", "Maximum". Let's compare in several locations. There is no change between "High" and "Maximum". When switching to "Medium", distortion on reflective surfaces is noticeable. On "Low" the effect is completely absent.
Let's move on to the next location. There are minimal differences between “High” and “Maximum”, since blood is decals, so their absence is not taken into account. When switching to "Medium", there is no glare on the glass. On "Low" reflective surfaces become matte, and the picture looks "flat", the amount of blood decreases, becomes transparent.
Foliage. 4 options. As you can see from the screenshots, the difference between "High" and "Maximum" is clearly visible, there are no large bushes, and grass in some areas. On the "Medium" a large amount of vegetation is missing, "bald spots" have appeared. On "Low" there are a couple of bushes left, there is no grass.
So, let's sum up. Graphics and animation from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 era. I can't recommend Werewolf: The Apocalypse - Earthblood. Many of the game's elements feel incomplete or missing. Repeating level designs that basically use the same industrial textures and objects from room to room gets boring very quickly. The game is made for mindless weekend brawls.
