Capcom Addresses Optimization Issues and Microtransaction Criticism in Dragon's Dogma 2

Capcom has responded to feedback from the community regarding Dragon's Dogma 2, focusing on the game's performance issues on PC and the criticism surrounding its microtransactions. In a statement released on Steam, the development team apologized for the inconvenience caused to players eagerly awaiting the game's launch and expressed their commitment to addressing these concerns.

The developers clarified that all items available for purchase as paid DLC, including the return crystal for teleportation, smoke decoys for harpies, and the resurrection stone, can also be obtained in-game without spending extra money. This move aims to alleviate concerns about the game's microtransaction model.

Regarding the game's performance, Capcom acknowledged the issues with frame rate drops, attributing them to the high CPU resource demand due to the simulation of numerous characters and their physical interactions in the game world. The presence of many NPCs simultaneously can significantly increase CPU load, impacting overall performance. While lowering graphic settings has limited effect, Capcom is exploring ways to enhance the game's performance in future updates.

Furthermore, Capcom is investigating critical issues like crashes and freezes, with plans for short-term fixes. The company also intends to introduce a feature allowing players to start a new game journey, enhancing the overall experience.

Despite receiving favorable reviews from the press before its release, Dragon's Dogma 2 has encountered mixed reactions from users on Steam, with only 45% of player reviews being positive. Capcom’s proactive approach in addressing these issues reflects its commitment to improving the gaming experience for its community.
